So.... uhhhhhh, what about the disc's up front? Does mud not stick to front brakes? :D
Just asking. The rear drums aren't a huge deal to me, sure I would have liked discs all the way around because they are better but drums work fine.

But are you on here crying about how bad the taco is?
I agree, I would have checked out the Jerp truck if it was out, don't know if they could give me a ford. But then again, I was basically planning on a manual trans taco.

Disks don't always work better than drums. Nor do they last as long

I had a full size truck and no longer needed it. Still wanted a truck so began looking at the
midsize market I drove them all and in the end it came down to a Colorado red line package
or the Tacoma. The Colorado boast's better numbers and sale price when you look on paper.
308 hp to 278...but man you get behind the wheel and there's a big difference ! The Tacoma
TRD OR was better in every way for me. I was really disappointed that the Gm twins didn't
jump up and go like the Taco does. and the feel ... The GM's are like driving a car, they do not
feel truck like at all. Guess theres a market for that other wise the GM's and the Ridgeline would
be a flop. Me and Mine are Taco fans all the way. My two teenage sons are having knock down
drag outs over who gets to borrow my new truck next. The Wifey has been steady eye ballin it too.

at thew end of the day in my opinion there is so much more in why we choose whatever truck. From Looks, to drive train to power to comfort to towing to brand loyalty to reliability to on and on. I have that diese l 16 colorado now with 54k miles and it has been pretty good truck no doubt. Ill be trading soon and more than likely going to be a toyota tacoma. I for sure want mid-size again. had many full size tundras and other brands for years and this now works best for us and i like the agility. Pick the model and brand you like they are all good these days and all have different plus and minus points to each. good luck

    Here we go again...
Please read what I have told the other dude that tried to correct me. Also read what others have said.

We are talking about mudding here. If you have all disc brakes, good luck trying to brake after it gets caked on there. Wet doesn’t matter since the front are disc. On top of that, you can mod your drums to have a small hole to act like a drain. If you really want to, but it’s not necessary at all.

I thought the V6 Colorado/Canyon runs 0-60 in the 6 second range while we are in the 7 second range.

Can someone link me to all the threads on brake failures and accidents caused by drums? I need to do some research to send in a letter to my mom on why my truck is safe/unsafe. She read a thread here and is now concerned.

    Thanks.

Just reading about the New Ranger yesterday. Seem to remember the article stating it would have a 4, and a 10(?) Speed auto, NO manual. I could be wrong, though, senior moments are kicking in more frequently...

I just read this article: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-sh...21/2019-ford-ranger-debut-release-date-specs/
    2.3 4cyl turbo 10 speed automatic (3 Overdrive Gears co-developed with GM) with a twin-scroll turbocharger.

If I'm understanding what I just read the FX4 trims only has 2Hi and 4 Hi.

As to not hijack the thread, perhaps this is what the OP is looking for in an offroad package.

The interior pic in the link shows the 4WD knob and it has 4Lo on it. The terrain selector just automatically engages 4Hi. It probably also works in 4Lo, the driver just has to manually engage it.

Good eyes. I should have realized this when they mentioned it having a 2-speed transfer case... but I'm an idiot. I think part of me was expecting there to be some sort of mention of automation with 4Lo... in case the truck was stuck or something. The truck seems to do everything else.

Yeah, but really, a lot of beefy looking SUVs and CUVs don't come with a low range not to mention the various 4WD / AWD options that Jeep plays smoke and mirrors with. It wouldn't have surprised me if the non-offroad 'packs' came without 4Lo. Like you quoted from the article, the truck seems set up for push button offroading just like the Land Rovers are these days.

I like being immersed in it.

As long as Toyota has the better looking sticker on the bed it will keeps its sales margin. That's all anyone ever looks at. If Ford and Jeep produce a serious 4x4 pick-up with more towing ability Toyota will probably have to take notice. For me just a driver side grab handle and automatic door unlock for the passengers side door would keep me happy even if it was a TRD aftermarket Kit.
