I am buying tires shortly and have spent the last few months narrowing down what I want with the fact that I don't want to tank mpg weighing strongly in my mind. decided to go with the size 235/85/16. basically a 265/75/16 but skinnier, (by like an inch and a half) lighter and usually cheaper. I want an E rated tires because the roads I travel get "grated" each spring, making trucks really prone to sidewall punctures. but I want to be as light as possible. I bought a set of alloy wheels to offset the weight of the newer tires some. currently have steel wheels 32lbs. alloys are 27lbs so Im shedding 20lbs. tires in consideration are falken AT3 (48lbs), Ko2 (49lbs), and St max (49lbs). (all in 235/85/16, all E range). from what I've read I am hopeful that I will end up somewhere around 19-21mpg. currently at 21-24 on 245/75/16s... just some food for thought. I can update once the I buy my tires and mount them.

Same here as well, went with 235/85/16 but with Cooper ST Maxx. I've heard great reviews, discount tires had a promotion as well; their ebay store has an instant $100 off which comes to about $100.00 each tire shipped to your doors without mount and balance. I don't think that offer is available at this time.

The Indians and settlers tied them so they would grow like this. Used them to mark things like water or shelter.

Alright, I will definitely keep that in mind, but since my rims are 17" do you know around what size should I get for those?
And definitely keep us informed on how yours go!

I don’t think I saw much of a difference in mpg when I went with larger tires.
I avoid the interstate driving secondary roads mostly.
I’ve heard good things about the st Maxx and I am thinking I’ll do the 235/85s for the winters and stick to the 265/75s for summers.
    Unsure of brand etc.
Gotta see if Vt is gonna let up on inspections before doing anything. I have a set steels with tpms and correct size by placard inside drivers door I use 1 day a year!
I believe they are changing this I hope! I still like the width of the 265 the rim offset helps also.

No it’s a queen she don’t often see off roading or even dirt roading. The avid light bars are parking lot deterrents and I like the look .
The steps stop shit from hitting the sides and chippping paint,oh and the wife uses them.

I am not familiar with 17s but I know that there are more options (at tire wise) ((I think)) out there... maybe someone with 17s has more insight!

does VT make you run with tpms sensors in the tires to pass inspection?

Nice looking truck btw! I ran the duratracs on a built Xterra I had before...Awesome tire offload...but they had a decent hum on the highway:)

    Thanks bud!
    I like your ride also
Yes Vt requires tpms for inspection.
They started a electronic inspection this year making shops buy tablets and going thru a checklist. It’s gotten out of hand and the state is in the process of easing up on the what fails your vehicle.
Yea the duratracs can get noisy but they do pretty good in the snow.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I thought NY was bad. The answer to this is seasonal tires  My winter tires (Wrangler Duratracs) have the TPMS that match the truck, and summer's (Cooper AT3's) do not. My theory was that during the summer it's much easier and convenient to check pressure. My inspection is due in January BTW.

Here's my '17 SR 4 banger. Just threw the rims and tires on last week. I've since washed and dressed them but I don't have a pic that recent.

Yea I have the summer winter tire set up also. Duratracs on American racing wheels winters
BFG kos on fake bead lock bronze trd wheels as summers. Neither have tpms or are the correct tire size. So I bought a used set of stocks 100$ plug and play for inspection day. Before if you didn’t have a light they didn’t check them.
From what I’ve read they may back off on inspections.

Here's my 2013 regular cab. I'm trying to figure out how to get good pictures with my camera that don't get washed out from the white. No luck so far! :D And the wheels were a lot of fun to do a fresh coat of wax on. o_O
