    When you complain about how long it takes for you to change drum brakes, it says more about your mechanical abilities than the quality of the vehicle.

    I think drum brakes are easier than disc. There's a technique. You can change a set of drum brakes with nothing but a screwdriver and a pair of needlenose pliers. Or just a screwdriver if you are tuff.

    Another thing. Drums are lighter and have zero drag when not applied, that's why old-school hotrodders prefer them. These car makers struggle for every fraction of a mpg. Drum brakes are lighter than disc.

    Yep. You see those guys in their T buckets, deuce coupes, 49 Mercs, 57 Chebbies, Fairlanes, etc. carrying an extra 1,500 pounds of cargo and towing trailers at high speed going up and down mountains on a daily basis.

    At car shows maybe. ;-)

    My last truck, a 7.3l power stroke dually crew cab had drums too. It did over 100,000 miles at over 20k cgvw. They worked. I’m not too sure about the drag difference or mud but good points.
