    Cody,
Cool, Lowes has that same Porter Cable model I found on Amazon.

    https://m.lowes.com/pd/PORTER-CABLE-Heat-Gun/3341122

The reason I'm pushing this one is mainly the fact that this has variable heat settings. From 200 watts to 1500 watts, and two fan speeds, low and high. The brand is also very respectable and very reliable.

You should buy this gun, and should ONLY USE THE LOWEST HEAT AND FAN SETTINGS!

You really only need a minimal amount of heat. Minimal!

And move the gun around fast like in that video, don't hold it in one spot for any longer than a couple seconds.

WARNING! DO NOT LAY THE GUN ON YOUR SEATS OF THE TRUCK WHILE DOING THIS!

Set up a small table, 5 gal bucket, or step stool to set the gun on, and if none are available then set the gun on the ground. You should always exercise caution whenever you're doing any mod but especially when you're working with any power tool, and most especially a heat gun.

Not trying to scare you at all. You'll ultimately laugh at how easy this is when your done. I just want to be sure you do.

For me, because the temps were so cold outside the vinyl was not warming up as evenly because the metal of the truck was also very cold. I think that's why I had a lot of thicker glue residue patches. I should have bought this same heat gun myself before attempting this mod. I also should have bought fresh adhesive remover. My impatience got the best of me. It worked out in the end and I'm just trying to pass my experiences on to help you, and others.

    Rob

I definitely appreciate the hints/tips. I lol'd a bit when picturing somebody (or myself) laying a just-used heat gun on your seats haha. That would be a great way to ruin your day. I think I am gonna make a trip to Lowe's soon (hopefully this weekend) and see if they have that gun, and some adhesive remover maybe, unless I have something decent that will work

You guys are too nice. So far I’m getting 16 on the highway. I have no idea if that’s accurate anymore. I can only assume it’s all out of whack now. I haven’t regeared. Not sure if I will.

I’m not a fan of the tire shine stuff luckily. You’re right, that’d be my monthly rent probably.

Yea well, after seeing that BLHM gone wrong thread I am all about safety tips! LOL
Yea, since you will be there just ask about the 3M Adhesive Remover and if they don't have that just buy some Goo Gone (duh, I was calling it Goop, duh) but this is the stuff:

Lol when you said goop I thought maybe you meant goof off. But yeah, will definitely look into the Goo Gone. I'm pretty sure I have a bottle, just not sure if it's that exact type you just linked

Yea, keep mixing the cheap mods with the ones that cost a little more money and you should be able to stay outta the dog house for a while :D
I'm in the same boat. I always promise and then break them right away. Tires and this time wheels were ordered before I even signed the paperwork! LOLOLOL

I was really surprised at how easily it came off. And there was very little adhesive left over. I live in West Virginia, and it was maybe in the 60s the day I did mine, but I just made sure I let the sun hit it directly for about 20 minutes or so and it came off like a charm. It's not bad at all around the weather stripping either. I anticipated a lot more issues than I had. Once it started, I just kept rolling up what was peeled away and peeled it right off. The excess adhesive came off easily as well, but the warmer it is, the less trouble you'll have with leftover.

It really is the easiest mod that makes a big difference!

Haha I’m in the same boat, except trying to save for law school. Don’t even begin to look at the mods by @mesojdm ... all your money will be gone!

    Good luck!

I said "only bolt ons" when I first bought it....Here I am already cutting and trimming, reading up about shock tower relocation kits for 12" shocks, chevy 63" leaf springs and cutting my fenders for 35s lol. This place is a terrible addiction.
