@LTDSC already answered the question as to what it is, thanks. This feature is part of all Tepui tents now and makes it so you can essentially custom build a tent the way you want it. I believe that eventually Tepui may be going that direction where you can pick whichever base you want and then choose any canopy. Right now you can still purchase additional canopies to swap out for different conditions. The zipper gimp makes it literally a 2 minute deal to change out a canopy. Such a rad idea and only available with Tepui tents.

Can this system be retrofitted to an existing Ruggedized Auttanna 3 setup?

Not to your existing canopy, but you could purchase a new canopy and it will include the zipper gimp. That's exactly what I just did with my own. This way I can get a Ultralight canopy later this summer for warm weather camping and it's an easy swap between my Ruggedized and UltraLight canopies.

So instead of buying a whole new tent I could just buy a new canopy. Rip out my old one and throw on the new one, then order the Mesh canopy and have tents for summer and winter seasons?

Took the wife, little one, and the doggo down to PINS earlier this week for some sand and sun. Our first time beach camping. Reminded of why the beach is usually strictly day-tripping. All in all it was a good time, tho.

Does this storage position look like it would cause extra strain on the tent?
My garage is not tall enough to keep the tent on or rig up a hoist. I don't want to put all of the weight on the legs of the bed rack or the ladder on top of the tent.
Anyone have any better ideas? This is temporary until the far wall in the garage is cleared off to store it against there.
The hinge of the tent is on the side facing the camera.

Last try. In case it doesn't work, it's resting on the tent with the bed rack attached. It's at about a 50 - 60 degree angle leaned up against a wall/work bench. The point of contact is the top edge of the tent when it is folded up in it's cover.

The weight of the rack is peanuts compared to the tent. It's a concrete floor, so I'm not worried about damaging it. The problem with resting it on the rack side is that it feels a little flimsy. It's a kbvoodoo rack. I don't have anything negative to say about it, but I feel like any flexing of it aside from the normal direction of pressure is harmful. it's pretty thin metal. Also, that would place strain on the connection between the rack and the tent. The bolts can be re-tightened, but yeah.. you know....

If this storage method was harmful to the tent.

yeah thats a good idea, i stored it like that and when it came to moving it around (even when i placed it on foam pieces) it ate and wore on the tent cover.

Thanks. I'll try to get a dolly to put it on. I think if i put the rack side to the wall it could balance on it's side. The rack is just heavy enough to tip it towards that direction.
