I think I remember that one. He didn't get the timing chain serviced and it snapped. Being an interference engine, the results were... unsavory. 40 bent Lamborghini valves can't be cheap.

My aunt (really my mom's cousin; I just call her "aunt" to make things easier) has been living in Mexico for many years now. She bought a 2006 Ford Explorer here in the States, brought it over there with her, and registered it there. However, it is apparently quite hard to get a Mexican driver's license, so she still has a Connecticut license with the address of a house she sold years ago!

A timing chain (as opposed to a timing belt) is right up there with New Coke as one of the worst inventions ever!

The first GTR made for a non-Japanese market was the R35. All others outside of Japan are gray market.

Canada has a 15yr rule, we have 20.

First "skyline" in the us was badged as the Infiniti G35.

At least with a timing belt you won't fuck up your engine if it snaps...

Back in 2003-2004 (we were living in Virginia at the time), when the G35 first came out, I saw a G35 coupe with Virginia plates in the parking lot at the gym. I thought that it looked like the then-new Infiniti, but the owner had been really thorough about replacing all the badges with ones that said Nissan and Skyline. I spent several minutes staring at this car trying to figure out where someone might have gotten an LHD Skyline into America...

So is this good or bad?

Hondas, and apparently Lamborghinis (read above), have the timing chains that will fuck up the engine if they snap...

Does it have the millennial anti-theft device commonly known as a manual transmission?!?!

Sadly the awd didn't have the option for manual. I wish it did. Needed the awd for the winters.

2010 G37xS anniversary edition... couldn't walk away from that red leather interior.

Have these waiting to go on once the weather fixes itself.

Already has a Nismo 370z sport rear sway bar and a vq35hr upper plenum on it.

Belts can too. It's really up to the engine designer. Chains are more expensive and are seen as a "life time" part, belts are more reserved for economy engines to cut costs and are more serviceable.

If it came over from Europe it was probably on a Wallenius Wilhelmsen RORO (or an ARC RORO, but same owners). Plenty of room for something that size. Basically, if it fits through the opening they'll ship it. We carry the huge mobile cranes on the Con-Ro that I work on all the time and they would make even the biggest Unimog look tiny. We had a bunch of HEMTTs one voyage, a handful of CH-47's and Blackhawks another. Here's the typical opening you've got to be able to fit through:

I'd like to check out one of the bigger MAN camper conversions in person sometime. I think that they're neat but I don't think they'd be very practical in much of the world.

When all else fails, go HET.

And yes, that chassis is WAY to much to be used as a camper.
