Let's just say that with the OEM ecu controlling this engine, with these huge cams, and locked out intake cam gears, the OEM ECU was quite the bitching nanny, and very disgruntled.

 

I was surprised it even ran with the stock ecu, but idk we got guys running 440's on the stock ecu

 

I knew it would run, as I had been through another cam gear "issue". When I swapped in the '03-'04 4Runner 1GR, with its ninja star cam gears. As long as there was a CEL, it would run "ok."

I gotta get the ball rolling this winter weather and a company car has made me way to complacent to leave the taco in the garage lol. Planning a trip to moab in june again I think so that will atleast make me haul ass. Finished the fuel lines just need to drop the pump in the tank. Then its charge pipe+vac/boost lines plumbing and down pipe fab. Then finally plug in the haltech

Don't sulk too much. I still need to pull down my box of AN fittings, and see what I need to finish the fuel line upgrades, coming out of the tank, as well as install a Holly Hydramat.


And fix the Bimmer.....

 

So my remote turbo idea isn’t going to fly, at least not with the Holset; it would rest inches below the crossmember

Diesel turbos aren't exactly easy to hide. Might as well be loud and proud if you set on running one of those.

 

Rear mounts are close to the end of the exhaust and muffler. A packing style muffler will have an extremely reduce life. Everyone can here the symphony of the whistling, which always makes you smile. Everyone comes out of the wood work to race you though. The whistle is not far from subtle....

 

For oil source, could I run a hose from either of the two plugs at the top of the oil filter:


or how about the plug just forward of it?

 

Not 100% sure, but I remember it being mentioned awhile back in this thread that those ports will work fine for a turbo oil source or oil pressure gauge.

I was thinking the post filter port on the housing would be perfect but I don't know where to drain to. Does anyone know which of the two ports is filter oil?

 

the smaller turbo they sell with the kit now. it was basically the same specs as the one you told me to get (if u remember me asking like a year ago)

 

anyone wana recommend a set of injectors for a 5vz? 300whp goal. fic-6 will be running them.

 

You know you can get a fun plug n play ECU for your year by Megasquirt for the same price as the FIC6? Be WAY better option.
