Harsh ride? 265/75/16 E KO2's on 2017 TRD Pro

Anyone mount a set of 265/75/16 KO2 E loads on a 2017 TRD Pro? (using stock wheels?)

For commuting I've tried from 30psi all the way up to 42 psi.

38 F&R has been the best so far.

On the highway it's fairly smooth but any old roads and the truck drives like a 1980 1-ton dodge.

Just checking to see if anyone else has experience a very stiff ride. I've had it and plan on buying a c-load all terrain this week but the options are pretty low.

 

I don't have ko2's but I got wrangler duratracs C rating 265/75/16's for a pretty decent price and they ride really nice , if your still open to getting a c rated tire

 

Bought 4 C-load duratracs 265/75/16. Had them re-balanced 3 times. Than they said the two rear tires are too out of round to balance. They ordered two more. One of the new ones was worse than what I had on the truck. So they mounted one new one on the rear than re-road forced all of them. Left the tire shop, hit the highway and called them 10 minutes later driving speeds 50-75 with my voice vibrating on the phone. Thats when we swapped to the bfg's. I'm thinking of trying a different tire store with the duratracs in a c. I've had them on my full size rigs and loved them.

I have the same tire, just got them and already have 300 miles on them. I'm used to a big truck before the taco so they feel fine to me! Good luck with what you decide

 

I don't have a Pro but I do have the Pro Fox OEM shocks on my 17 Off Road DCLB with 265/75/16 BFG KO2s E rated tires inflated to about 36 PSI. My ride isn't much harsher than before when I had the factory OR Bilsteins w GY Wranglers. They are a little bit noisier.

 

What psi have you tried offroad?

 

You will get used to it. Or you can stick with small tires and thin sidewalls. Less psi always softens the ride.

 

BFG must know they’d make a killing if the offered 265/75/16 in c-rated. There must be something about that size that doesn’t work well with a lighter carcass. Just a guess. Maybe that’s why the duratracs have issues for some.

OP, I think you can get Falkens in that size with a lighter weight, or you could go to 17” wheels so you can run 265/70/17 C-rated BFG ko2, which is the same tread and outer diameter as your tire.

 

I personally run P rated Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws. They're perfect for me and have a great ride.

I put P rated tire on my truck while waiting to get new E rated ones and it rode like a Bentley compared to the E rated mud tires I had on before. Tires are essentially springs them selves, and E rated tires are basically as stiff as they come especially with the small weight of our trucks

 

Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 rated C. I have them in the same size, look good, ride great, and you can find them for way cheaper than KO2s.

 

Off-road they're fine. I'll drop to 25-30 depending on where we are. I'm not doing 60+ off-road. Well, blazing thru sandy double track I am but on the undulating dirt roads I keep the speeds mellow. It's the black top where they ride to stiff. Taking them off today or tomorrow.

 

I spent last Saturday moving air pressures up and down driving the same route. 38 F&R when warm was best all around. Running anything below 35 thinking it would soften the ride made it handle really squirrley. Even though I've heard the Dura Tracs in a C have a super thin sidewall I'm going to mount a set today or tomorrow. I rarely crawl thru rock gardens. Dirt, Sand,Snow, Tarmac is what I find myself on. Oh, and gravel roads.

 

I thought about getting the 17" FN Pro's so I could run the KO2 C. But I like my stocks Pro wheels. I did buy a set of FN 5-Stars (16") and mounted my Blizzak DM-V2's on them. Those Wheels are Crazy Light! The 16x8 also made a huge difference in how they made the DM-V2 look compared to a Stock set of OR's that I had them on previously. Next step is to go back to a C-Load DuraTrac (even though I've struggled with getting out-of round tires) If that doesn't work I may need to bump to a 17.

 

Did you also swap the rear Leaf Springs or are you running the OR Spring Pack?

Yes! That's exactly what I'm running on my 2016 DC Offroad. Fells heavier and grippy-er but I like it. I'm run on rad at 38psi and offload at 28psi. Gas milage isn't great but offroading is a dream! OVTune rocks and brings the get up and go back!
