I mounted S2’s in the factory rear bumper. I saw a couple of pictures of 2nd gens but no 3rd gens. There is room to fit the light without removing a lot of support for the bumper.

Bailey, Does the security bolt kit for the S2s that you sell attach the light to the bracket, or the bracket to the roof rack, etc?

Great question, I always wondered what would stop someone from taking the whole thing.

 

The security hardware we sell is designed to attach the mounting bracket to the housing of the light. It does not secure the light to the mounting surface or tab.

Can someone double check my math / logic?

If I wanted to run a S2 Sport as a camp light (.9A draw) and my 27F 710 CCA battery has a 165 min reserve capacity:

10% rundown = 165 minutes * .10 = 16.5 minutes @ 25 amps.
25 amps / .9A = 27.8
27.8 x 16.5 minutes = 458 minutes (7.6 hours)

I just want to make sure I don't run out of starting capability in the middle of the desert, and have a survivorman type deal go down.

 

Math looks right to me. When I'm deep in the wilderness I carry a lithium jump start pack with me. The are ridiculously small and good insurance against something unexpectedly running the battery down.

 

I installed my squadron with the security kit and but I used an Allen head bolt to attach mounting bracket to surface, this blocks the top of the bolt with the light itself, therefore making the security bolts the only way to remove the light. Would be nice of BD included an Allen instead of the regular hex bolt.

 

I pretty much replace all the mounting hardware for lights and stuff with stainless hex sockets from a local hardware supplier.

I used 1/4x20 bolts with tri-groove security nuts for my RTL and mount. I bought a few extras for when I mount up the S2s.

My next mod is a dual battery setup (or maybe a lift, who knows). Just trying to get the info for the few months I have to bridge before then.

 

I just installed @CaliRaisedLed ditch light brackets and mounted Baja Designs squadron Pros. I purchased the wire harness and am trying to wire it now. The “splitter” is no where near long enough to connect them. Is it ok to just add an extension into the harness using butt connectors? Then how should I run the wires to the Toyota style switch? Thanks for any help.

Bailey, I ordered an RTL that was from the old scratch and dent program, and it acts like the power input has a faulty contact somewhere internally. Sometimes, it won't come on with the switch but if I sort of massage the cable for a second where it meets the bar, it'll come back on. It had this issue since the day I pulled it out of the box, but I thought I fixed it; Probably re-occurs every 1-2 weeks of DD type driving. How can I get this serviced / resolved with your team?

 

That wouldn't be a problem at all! Feel free to extend using butt connectors.

Wiring to a Toyota switch would require a little custom work on your end. Unfortunately we don't have any diagrams or step-by-steps for changing our switch to an OEM one.

If you PM me a picture of the back of your switch, and the Baja switch, I'll write up some instructions tonight on how to swap from the Baja switch to the Toyota style.
