Rear Diff Strength vs Tire Size

Ok guys I hate to ask but after much searching I'm unable to find the answer.....
What is the max tire size the rear end can handle? Not in relationship to wheel well clearance but the strength of the rear to handle a larger tire.

What is the common breaking points when the rear goes - spider gears, ring and pinion, etc-- ??

I realize there are other factors such as gear ration, having/not having locker, etc...but what is common with Tacomas'?

WOW - blew with 33's. Sorry to hear bro. Glad the dealership fixed it.

So what are the choices in improving the likelyhood of rear axle survival with the 33's??
Are there any direct axle swap options?

 

I blew my rear axle a month or two ago running 33's. It was the ring and pinion that went. I was doing a steep hill climb though.

 

Blew my ring and pinion on 32's... and I wasn't locked.

 

if you busted the rear end with larger tires, please post what you were doing when it went out. Offroading, Commuting, 2h/4hi/4low, pushing the truck because you forgot to put gas in it!

If you beat on it, it will break If you are easy on it, it will break. Its just a matter of time. If mine decides to go I will have my ring and pinion Cryo treated.
