    It will smooth out after several hundred miles. I can't remember the last time I had the surging.

    I've got several hundred miles on it. Flashed it 9 days ago.

    been reported in the past, Matt was investigating. Many have reported it's there without the tune (mine isn't one) but the tune just exacerbates the problem.

    Are you running the 91 or 87 tune?

    @OVTune

    yes - the surging was MUCH more pronounced on the premium tune for me as well in those scenarios. I had to keep one foot ready to brake as I was backing up a hill myself. I learned and adjusted so it wasn't the end of the world but that same level of random surging does NOT occur on the 87 tune for me.

    I also wonder sometimes if those of us who run 93 on a tune that was tuned for 91 could have some impact as the ECU adds extra advance for the higher octane. I know running higher octane than tuned is "safe" for the engine but perhaps could be responsible for some surging Mat doesn't see on his truck? IDK - guesses from an amateur at best :)

    The trucks surge stock, that is a fact and I'd say that on the 87 tune it's about the same if not a bit less than I saw stock. Perhaps the same characteristic just gets amplified with more power

    Never saw surging on mine before the tune. I'm an '18 which is a different ECU than 16-17s, so maybe that had something to do with it.

    16 here, never surged in anyway pre tune. I had the surge for only a day until I let it idle for 15 min.
    untouched after re-loading the tune - now I just have the idling surge from about 800-1200 rpms
    while it's in park, I've only noticed it in the am.

    I experienced what I think is this surging yesterday. Making a 90 degree left turn in a drive thru, I turned the steering wheel fairly sharply at the same time as I gave it just a tiny bit of throttle and held it. The truck did a bucking bronco lurch dance. No one was in front of me, and it was happening at about 1 or 2 mph, so let it go to see if it would correct itself. Nope. It got progressively worse, like a feedback loop. 87 tune, stock wheels/tires, tune installed by the book, including 15 minute idle. The truck never showed any sort of surging behavior at all pre-tune.

    Same here. Never felt surging before the tune. Started getting the surge from time to time when I hit about 300 miles on the tune. It usually only happens in reverse and only after a cold start. At first it only happened once in a while, but as I put more miles on the truck it started happening more frequently, but still only during a cold start. Once the truck is warmed up it's fine, no surging at all. Decided to start over, so I reflashed (I had roughly 600 miles on the tune at the time). I'm at about 50 miles since the reflash and I'm getting no surging so far. I guess I'll see if the surging returns as I put more miles on the tune.....hopefully not....:fingerscrossed:

    I am stock but follow this thread. I also run 87 sometimes and 93 sometimes. This truck surges all the time on me, almost every single time I switch from drive to park, or reverse to drive etc.... The engine revs itself for some unknown reason, it's like it's trying to keep the alternator at a certain level and needs more rpms sometimes for the electrical power. I know that probably isn't what's going on, but it's so random that is my wild idea.

    So maybe the tune doesn't help, but this happens to me daily on my stock truck.

    17 Same thing on my truck. In park, either warmed up or cold, 800-1200 rpm accompanied by a smokey exhaust. OVtune said in another thread that he had it solved.

    This is a result of the power steering being belt driven. Totally normal, they all do this. In parking lots and drive thrus you have to keep your foot on the brake and be ready for the surges.

    Is anyone running skinny 33" tires "255-85-16 " and 4:88 gears with this tune? I have been following OV tunes from the start. I was waiting for the shift Learning to go away to purchase it. I'm kinda worried it will feel like a supercharged Tundra ive driven that going over bumps throttle response will spin the tires.
