That seems a little strange to me. My business would lose money doing that.

Even light tint can get you a ticket. I've been there. They can still see it. Polarized sun glasses make even light tint stand out.

Why would you go to court? The law is pretty clear. It doesn't matter if you think it's BS or not. A judge is just going to follow the law. Taking it to court would be a waste of time and money. You'll lose and you'll wind up paying court costs and you'll still have to take it off.

Its for sure case by case...my buddy got a speeding ticket going 90 mph, and the cop made him roll up his windows and gave him a tint ticket as well. he took off the tint and went to court for the speeding ticket, the judge asked if he had been to Iraq, he had been, they ran his license it came back clean, said all the tickets have been waived, when my buddy said he already scraped the tint off the judge said he "could care less about window tint." But granted the military thing kind of bought him out of all the mess.

yeah you should be cool...millions of people in socal have window tint, I did the offset thing to make the front look "lighter" if you will. and other than when my wife got pulled over, I had never had a problem in 4 years with having my windows tinted, my truck and my Matrix is tinted the same, tint is the first thing I do to my cars.

Any tint on front windows in California is illegal unless it came like that from the factory. I am not a huge fan of super dark tints. Harder to see at night, and just another reason to get pulled over. My truck has a nice tint on it, not sure if its from factory or previous owner (Bought used of a lot). When I had my honda, It came with no tint. (my opinion)

I went with 20% (Lets ONLY 20% of light through) on the rear of the car, and 80% (Lets 80% of light through) on the front side windows. Car was midnight blue so it came together well.

It looked factory, it looked good, but it didn't look "I am a bad ass mofo, haha you cant see me bitches, please use this as an excuse to pull me over officer!"

I drove it like that for 7 years in the bay area and never once was my tint mention during traffic stops, or stared at as I passed cops on the roads day or night.

In CA tint is a reason to screw with you, just like no front license plate. Unless you are a dick you usually don't get a fix it ticket. They want the reason to pull you over again and check things out.

Just because a law *appears* to make no sense doesn't mean there is no reason for the law to exist. Often there is more going on than people can readily see. I do understand the gov't trying to protect people from other people behaving dangerously. I don't understand trying to protect people from themselves... if someone wants to do something stupid and dangerous that puts no others or others' property at risk, why intervene? That is Darwinism at its finest and it is a beautiful thing.
