Absolutely yes. Much more space in a T4r. Plus the middle seats slide back for more room

 

You're only supposed to use the latches with the seat in one of the outboard positions. You need to use the seat belt in the middle position

 

And you guys should try to get a kid into a rear facing seat in an FJ. Good thing I'm relatively skinny. The b pillar just about bisects the seat since the FJ rear seat is so far back in relation to the b pillar. I have to turn my son sideways feet first and slide him in, then climb on my sliders kickout and shove the top half of my body between the b pillar and car seat back to get him buckled.

My daughter's forward facing is easy though.

Speaking of caps, does anyone ever sell them used? I can't find a single one for sale around me that isn't from the 80's. I would love one, but they are so damn expensive.

I'm going to have to keep and eye on that. Fitment between 2nd and 3rd gen is a little off, but not much.

 

Mine sits right below the roofline on my '12.
I think the 2nd gen model sits slightly over the roofline on a 3rd gen.

One thing to note with car seats, they vary GREATLY in overall size which can mean the world trying to cram them into a confined space. I bought these Recaro car seats because they look like racing seats. They are huge, heavy and awkward to install. They're fine getting the kids in and our of my truck, but we had them in my wife's car for a little bit and it was damn near impossible.

Installing in the center vs. the sides is also a big deal for new vehicles with side curtain air bags. FWIW, I have my 2 seats on either side of the truck. We used to have the baby in the middle but my older one kept messing with him on long trips so I separated them. In my wife's car, there's not enough room to have the seats next to each other so again, they're on the outside seats.

 

Yeah that's what I've heard. Seen a few pics and I'm not wicked OCD about that stuff. I've been holding out to see if there's a group buy started sometime this spring, but will probably end up ordering one in a few months if nothing pops up.

 

Yep, same here as far as one on each side now.

 

well now that makes sense lmao, that seat sure as hell ain't moving though lol Moves zero cm in the truck, in my wife's car it has both the latches and belt through it, still moves slightly no matter how much i tighten
