We've got 1 recaro in each vehicle forward facing for our daughter and a rear facing iirc Gracco slimfit in each vehicle rear facing for our son. The recaro is huge and akward for sure

 

I ordered mine 3 weeks before a GB,lol.

I'm slightly OCD with things like that and I know I would focus on a too high Softopper every time I looked at the truck.

 

Up to an inch of movement side to side is acceptable.

Have you tried a pool noodle or rolled towel under the front of the seat to help get more tension on it/ keep it from moving?

 

Sorry, I mean the side cover, that allows the stalk to come out the side of the steering wheel, you need one of those (If not, you have a big hole for the stalk). The airbag is easy to get out of the way, just a couple of Torx screws, and then you have plenty of room to work.

 

Just keep an eye on Craigslist and you might get lucky. Both caps I've owned, for the Tacoma and the F-150 were found second hand. I found the Tacoma one in NY, color matched and everything and paid $700 for it. The F150 was a CL find and I traded a BakFlipVP tonneau for the cap. Tonneau cost me $650 new and I used it for about a year.

How come? Do you not like the Soft Topper?

FYI, my wife is making me get rid of the Recaro seats and not letting me use forward facing. Rear facing, they are great, forward facing apparently they have some significant safety concerns.

 

Yeah, I say I'm not, but I'm worried I'll buy a used 2nd gen and then regret it because it will be the only thing I see when looking at it haha.

I know it doesn't mean or count for shit, but I just looked at the weather outlook for the rest of the month, and into next month. It's lookin real good! Super tempted to get my winter tires taken off and put my summer tires on ASAP.

 

I pulled mine last weekend.

Mine came in handy last night, since we got a bit of snow and I went to my weekly pickup game.

I have to wait and see what we have planned as far as weekends go next month, to try and get it done on a weekend, and get a proper alignment since I think they half assed mine when I went in on Monday after work, after getting the PRO suspension put on.

 

Meh... I like having two sets. Makes me feel "cool".

 

Ha Ha .. wait until you get asked why do you have two sets ... get rid of one we need more room for the kids toys..

 

It's actually sort of scary when you start digging into it. The safety 'standard' that the seats are generally tested to per NHSTA is only 30 MPH. Some 3rd parties have tested several seats at higher speeds and found that the seats don't hold up (restraints break, the seat itself gets compromised, etc). It's eye opening depending how far down the rabbit hole you go.

If I recall, rear facing the Recaro did very well. Forward facing, the restraints were failing in a higher impact test.

 

Not gonna happen. The wife is "OK" with me having two sets.

 

Just ordered me a set of JBA UCA's for the Taco............... Wifes gonna kill me soon.......LOL

 

It's a maintenance item, therefore there shouldn't be an issue.

Rear wheelers super bumps
Bilstein 5160 to replace rear 5100s I currently have on
Bilstein 6112s
SPC uca
285/70/17 MT tires to replace my ~1/2 tread KO2's
Rear rotors/ pads

 

I got the Graco 4Ever seat since it works from Toddler Rear Facing and is adjustable and convertible all the way to a booster seat. Figured buy one seat for $250 versus 4 or so. Its not as big as the Recaros, and smaller than the click in carrier/seat combo things. So basically if you have side curtain air bags its best to put the seat in the middle?

I had that feeling it has a bigger back seat. I'm bouncing between 4Runner and Tundra as options I really don't want to shell out for a CrewMax so might have to go to the dealer and move the car seat around to see what would work.
