well I can say there are many that has 16 models get the 17 or 18 models or 17 to 18. If these trucks are that bad why are many that get theirs wrecked or decide to trade to something newer from a 16 to 18 for either different model or like me just trade every 2 because I put a lot of miles on. The trucks are no different than the Colorados. Some complain and some love them.

I moved to SA, am a performance junkie and switched from a GTI to a 2016 Taco DCOR so I can speak to this. I'm at a time in my life with kids, housework, etc where I really appreciate all the things I can my Taco that I couldn't do with my GTI. Offroading in the Chihuahuan desert with bikes and RTT, hauling building materials to and from the house, delivering large format artwork to my clients, etc. So great! And while I liked the V6 and AT at first, after a year or so (and some heavier tires, armor, etc) it's sluggishness and gear hunting really started to bother me. My friends Tundras and F150s really have a lot of 'get up and go'. OVTune fixed the power and transmissions issues nicely. And the twin turbo setup coming later this year should totally blow doors. So factor one of these in if you're a performance junkie. I'd get the MT anyway. I like having a 'small' truck and wish it were a little smaller sometimes. Oh and the air conditioning is fantastic! My VW's were so disappointing in that respect. That's so important here.

    Yeah.
If you are moving to San Antonio, I would suggest waiting until you move to get one. San Antonio may be a little different than the rest of Texas since the plant is there, but the Tacoma is not nearly as popular there than it is as you go further west. You'll get a much better deal, and your truck probably only had to go to Houston and back. Toyota trucks seem to be really popular here in NW Arkansas, but I see more Tundras than Tacomas, and I got my Pro for a steal compared to what they are charging on either coast. In Texas you see mostly full-size trucks and a lower mix of Toyota. I am always amazed at the difference in mix when I am out west. You'll only have to pay state sales tax (6.5% on the difference between trade-in and sales price when I was there) and reasonable registration fees, and no yearly personal property tax.

As far as the transmission, a test drive may not give you the right feel -- it takes a while for it to settle in to your driving and does seem to shift/hunt more at first. Mine has settled in nicely. The 3.5L has plenty of power -- mine actually surprised me the first time I got into it accelerating onto the highway, better than the 4.0L. Maybe a bit slower at lower throttle inputs, but it kicks in hard if you want it to.

i went from a 2011 x-runner (supercharged)... to an elusive Prius.. (because work was about 100+ miles away at the time).. then i moved closer to work.. and now im back in a tacoma..

    the moral of this story..

dont sell/trade a tacoma because youll find yourself back in one eventually..
