Factory installed seat soaker mod!

So - should I do something to my 3rd brake light to KEEP this from happening in the first place? How is Toyota fixing the issue?

This thread would not be complete without hearing from the bored Gen 2 folks trolling the Gen 3 folks.

 

So the dealership just called me. I had taken it in for 20k service and mention insane some water in the back seat. They have done the service, and changed out the gasket. No leak. Ppl be complaining over nothing.

 

Straight down from the roof, down the window, middle of the back seat, and onto the back seat.

 

you could probably put a little RTV around the 3rd Brake light if you are worried it might leak

 

Leaking equals mold or the beginning of it depending on how long it’s been leaking. Drying it out is just the beginning of problem. If there is any mold what so ever or it smells like a gym bag demand mold mediation! That simple gasket / light they went cheap on will set back Toyota a nice bundle.

 

Well it’s been two weeks but she is all fixed. Final repair consisted of interior parts removal, shell removal, and actual straightening of the sheet metal around the third brake light that was out of spec. So sanding and re painting had to be done. They leak tested it four times and it seems to be good to go. Slight delay because the body shop turned it over dirty and full of body dust and fingerprints so the shop foreman had it detailed for me. No cost to me including the rental Taco for 2 weeks. I’m just glad she’s home.
