Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

That won't resolve the "hanging onto 3rd gear" issue. I shift into S mode (S4), if speed is below 31mph, truck will stay in S3 which is around 2000RPM. It will not go into S4 until at least 33 -34 MPH.

This is 87 tune, stock tires. Fairly minor issue to some of us, none issue to some, but worth bringing up anyways.

 

just a tip on how i got my truck to keep from sitting around 2k while cruising around 30 mph. i set my cruise to what ever speed i want to go and then accelerate a few mph past it ans whe the truck slows down it shifts into a lower gear. saem goes for other speeds as well. hop this helps someone!

 

Crazy to think that the stock tire size makes such a huge difference. I’m just glad this forum allows direct feedback, but even more grateful that the vendor is responsive and had some skin in the game by driving what he’s tuning.

 

Yeah, I think 1 -3 is fine also, better than having it lug. But I have the exact same experience 4 -> 3 seems the down shift should should happen sooner at a high throttle input. As you said, once it does downshift it takes off!

 

I did mine on mac using parallels trial... no issues didn't even mess with windows defender

You can't manually shift to 4th... if the gear won't engage until 31(ish) mph then it won't shift with S mode either.

 

@OVTune Any updates on the On the intake/ exhaust you’re working on?

 

I ended up using bootcamp and seems to be working fine so far

I have solved the cold start low throttle surge when the engine is cold.

 

Is getting updates as simple as opening flash manager and downloading updates from there? If not can someone describe how to?

 

In the past, Mat released new version of Flash Manager alongside each tune release. Not sure if he plans to release new Flash Manager with the next automatic transmission tune?

 

Well guys I now have quite a bit of miles on the RD truck with 1.03 and believe I can now say with confidence the transmission learning is completely muted.

 

Agree. I had over 1200 miles on 91 tune before I flashed 87 and there was zero discernible change in shifting. Only change I did notice was some of the initial harshness of the low-speed TC full lock engagement subsided and continued to smooth out.

No, I couldn't get Pcmflash to even run, then i switched machines and couldn't get it to recognize the small black USB, then I ditched my virtual box and finally got it all working via Bootcamp and Windows 10 on my Mac. Now just waiting on the product key so I can flash. Frustration has passed, now it's waiting on Mat
