Why are yours not adequate? You looking for better performing shocks off road?

If so, look into performance coilovers...lot of good brands out there. King, ADS, Icon, Fox, Radflo, Toytec, etc.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.

Inadequate? Bilstiens are some of the best.

I recently switched from the stock bilsteins to the old man emu rear shocks on my 18 OR and man what a difference... The stock shocks are just too soft and make the truck wallow over consecutive bumps. Yeah the Old man emu are slightly more stiff overall but the trucks feels better under all other circumstances from highway to potholes to off roading.

    Yeah stock shocks are junk...

    OME lift kit
    Bilsteins 6112s
    cheap coil overs
    2.5 coil overs.

and a good set of leafsprings, on my 2010 the leafs were junk, dakar(OME) leafs, huge upgrade...

I would list the shocks in this order...
If you are going to do a lot of off roading or desert type running I would recommend getting rebuildable / revalveable shocks.
Most coil overs will corrode in winter and will need revalving to get right...

I started with OME like most people do, great for the money, the bilsteins seam better for not much more, now I have Fox 2.5s...

5100s and some 885s, you’ll save some money and notice the difference.

What are you trying to do with the truck that makes the OEM shocks inadequate?

There are different shocks for different applications, whats the budget?

No way, the off road stock shocks are no good. I can't tell you how many OR or Sport threads I have read about how much better the off road shocks are over the sport ones.

So I guess if the off road shocks are this bad, but better than the sport ones, I might as well just go out and rip my shocks right off and drive with out.o_O

Only if you plan on never taking your truck anywhere besides the pavement.

Depends on what you want to use your truck for and what your budget is. I agree the OEM shocks, coils and springs are inadequate for mild to aggressive use off highway.

I’m a fan of Old Man Emu and I’m running it on my 4Runner and it’s my 3rd vehicle I’ve run OME on. It suits my needs and my budget.

There is King, Fox, Icon, Toytec, Bilstein, etc. we would be better served if we knew what you intended to use your truck for and what your build plan is.
