What the real issue is, I keep reading a bunch of stuff on here! One guy now is saying people with any positive scrub radius or basically anytime you widen your stance and wheel offset changes, you need to adjust camber and toe lol

Good news boys.... the kO2's & 17' trd Oem rims will fit my 2015 taco...talked to another guy at different dealership ... he seems to know his stuff

    Thanks for your help
Going to be about $3000 with install ... now I'm thinking I should just trade in and get 2018 Taco or wait for that diesel that's suppose to be released soon lol

Although my “worry” vid post was meant to add a little humour, its actually pretty good advice. The “worry buster formula” that the chap lists at the 2:00 minute mark is actually an excellent way to deal with things like modding your Tacoma. Check it out.

Not so much worrying as “will I now need to adjust camber and toe and get a special alignment”? To add to the list of the install

Are you doing the alignment or are you going to be a pain in the ass to the guy doing your alignment?

You can always take it to a place that specializes in aligning offroad trucks if you're so worried about it. Even then there's a very good chance you can knock it out of alignment a little depending on how much you take it offroad. Are you going to spend every week in an alignment shop after every offroad excursion just to make sure you're still back to your recommended toe and camber to compensate for scrub?

Maybe remaining stock IS the best option for you, that way everything matches factory specification and parameters. You seem to get overzealous in slight deviations from spec and possibly what could happen.

If so then modding vehicles might not be for you. You'll be too worried to really enjoy the truck in the end.

I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm saying this to keep you enjoying a decent truck right out of the box.

Did you get an alignment after switching wheels or just kept things as is? Seems many don’t care, so I won’t.

Wheel and plus one tires were installed at point of purchase and tracked straight and smooth so I didnt feel the need for another alignment.

A year later it was aligned again after the lift was installed, still tracks straight and the tires show even wear after 30k miles.

Pretty sure I'm ok with these wheels.

Cool. Just to make something straight, I’m willing to accept that nothing is as safe or reliable as stock. I had a modded mk7 GTI before and many cars before that. However, this is my first time ever messing with wheels and tires and I only learned what I know here on TW so far. So the minute I read of a concern, I’m asking about it. Apparently going to these wheels doesn’t seem to affect scrub radius as bad and the one fellow recommending custom toe/camber settings was probably trying to get me back to near stock settings with the new wheels. After talking to you guys, it sounds like it’s not necessary.

At the end of the day, my goal is to enhance the truck with safe upgrades while still keeping most of the reliability/ longevity of the truck as I’m keeping her for a while. Modest performance and cosmetic mods that will still keep the truck close to what the engineers intended. Close, but understanding still not stock.

Yeah mine was about the same. It came to like 1500 with mount, balance, and tmps swap. I'd just buy it on your own and bring somewhere to get it mount and balanced. You can get the wheels on eBay for 700-800 and I think April and October are the months tire deals are the best. Can easily get the KO2s around 700-740 for a set of 4. Probably cheaper.

For anyone that cares, below is my setup. It involved:

Added a full OME kit, SPC UCAs, lots of rubbing, lots of trimming, lots of heating up, and lots of cutting (CMC). Still rub some on the corner of the bumper when reversing at almost full lock and aired to 40psi but at 35psi they dont rub. Will get to that final cutting soon. The spacers probably added to the rubbing but the stance is worth it.

285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 4Runner Pro Wheels on 1.25" spidertrax spacers. Gorilla black lug nuts and wheel locks.

    It’s the wheel spacers fault.
    Sure does look good though.

I went with the 4Runner trd pro rims. 17 inch rims with 265/70/17 ko2’s on stock suspension. Love the look and ride. Very close to rubbing when wheels are fully turned either way can only fit about a finger in between on the front tires but I haven’t noticed any rubbing on the mudguards or anything at all!

Nice. Did you have the mudguards removed in the second pic? And only fitting your finger in... is that clearance to mudguard or fender? Looks great btw!

Nope mud guards are there it’s just zoomed in so you can’t see them lol. But the clearance is on the front tires to the mudguard where is gets close. I live in RI so the roads are a mess right now so I think I would’ve noticed dirt rubbed off the guards if I was rubbing, which I haven’t, so I think I’m good!
