EEEk!! drilling holes and a slide hammer is old school shade tree body work. Now they spot weld pins to the panel and pull on those. Grind them right off. No holes in the panel.

I can't believe I didn't think of this. Would it be better than paying for a Supercharger?

Dumb me didn't realize you can take the Turbo off.

 

Better how? You can make more power and tune when it comes on easier with the turbo. But for ease of use and simplicity the SC cannot be beat and you'll still make more power than a normal V6 and in a very usable band.

 

What do you think, turbo the 3RZ or go for 5VZ with the SC?

I'm looking for better acceleration and better towing capacity (if that would even add any towing capacity)

 

Yeah I know. I shouldn’t have done it. I fucked up big time. I knew better than to let him drill holes but I wasn’t thinking obviously.

 

V6 and SC all the way if you're towing. I wouldn't wanna be the guy to try and get a V6 swapped and SCd truck through smog though haha

 

It's helpful to cut the back side flange of the OEM bushing off so you can pull it through from the other end. May need some heat too, but I didn't. The OEM bushing is one piece IIRC, but the aftermarket poly bushings are two-piece for that longitudinal long bolt.

I just did mine recently. One piece of advice I'll give you is use some good lube (I think I used the super lube stuff) on both the inside and outside surfaces of the bushing. As well, DO NOT press the new long bolt bushings all the way in place before trying to slide the metal sleeve inside the bushing (assuming you got the energy suspension two-piece poly bushing). Instead, get the back half of the bushing all the way in and the front half of the bushing about 90% in. Get the metal bolt sleeve started into the front half bushing before you press the bushing all the way in. If you don't, you'll never get the damn sleeve into the fully compressed bushing. I had to pull the bushing part of the way back out to get the bolt sleeve started, which is kinda risky for tearing the bushing. Also not great for the blood pressure and zen levels of the garage and anyone near enough to hear you cursing.

Part of me wants to turbo the 3RZ, part of me wants to do the 5VZ swap. I'm conflicted.

Man whatever SMOG tech who scans the VIN sticker will have a heart attack if I do the v6 swap. Factory label would decode as PreRunner 2WD I4 but the truck would be a 4x4 v6. @Timmah! did a great video on a v6 2UZ swap into a 3rd gen 4Runner. Getting it legal meant swapping all the Tundra emissions equipment and bringing the truck to be inspected by the CA BAR.

 

Hearing all this crap about smog makes me feel better on where I live. Truck can smoke like a Cheech and Chong smokeathon and it's fine.

 

Still trying to figure out why my trucks not starting I tried everything I could think of, it cranks over but won't start, I thought at first Fuel Pump, changed that didn't do anything, then checked the codes, was throwing a P0340 for the Camshaft position sensor, so I changed that and check continuity to the ECM, all good. Then I checked for spark, NO Spark, so I unplugged the mass airflow, and tried cranking, still nothing but stopped throwing codes. At this point the computer isn't throwing any codes, so at that point I changed some coils out, still nothing Now then I thought maybe something to do with the igniter, so I went and grounded out a pin going to a coil, and low and behold the spark plug sparked when I touched the wire to ground, so I replaced the igniter today, and still nothing. The only thing left I can think of is the ECM is bad. I am just at a loss and was wondering if anyone has any other ideas.

I'd say 1 out of every 5 cars is a Toyota Prius. The other 4 are probably Teslas (fun fact: Teslas are made in the same factory as our trucks were made in up to 2010)

Somehow Prius drivers are the worst drivers there are. Seriously. I have never had a single pleasant experience with one.

Now an Uber Prius... that's a whole new level of douche.

 

My job actually had me go to San Francisco for some meeting, I had 2 people open my door thinking I was a Uber driver. Wish I had a camera for the 2nd person when she got in and I said "I'm your rapist now get out of the truck."

 

I would just say budget guys. I think the mall crawlers are probably just getting spacer lifts.

 

The bolt. Would get about halfway then it would get stuck, could only get it to go back in but not all the way out.
