    Just the basics
I don't care for most of the things FOI does but in this case I do. The comments of a few dipshits on FB are wild.

Maybe Park Officials will have enough resources to babysit The Playa after they decide to bulldoze the Springs

I wonder what the winter would be like in a nice Airstream and a few days off to explore now and again.

That happened AGAIN? Or is that the clean up from the asshole from last year?

Naw, they'll just close to road along it, and set up parking lots 2 miles away from from the grand stand at the north end and 2 miles away from the moving rocks at the south end. If you want to see both in a day get ready to hike the entire Playa, or drive all the way around to the other side..... Just wait for it

Could you send a pinned map for the location? I have a Canon 80D with a 150-600mm Tamron that I use the for the Blue Angels and wild life.

Im going up to Death Valley on Friday for a weekend trip to check out Titus Canyon Road, Ubehebe Crater, Racetrack Playa, Lippincott Road, and Saline Valley Warm springs. Its forecasted to rain a bit on Wednesday or Thursday. Should I be concerned? Ive read about the roads washing out in the backcountry after rain.

As with most things, it depends. You probably need to be more concerned about rain farther away in the mountains since that’s where most of the water that does damage comes from.

Know the road conditions and weather forecast before you go. Let someone know your travel plans in case of emergency and pay attention while you’re out and about.

The weather looks to be pretty nice, highs in the 70's, lows in the 50's. Where is a good place to get road condition reports? The national parks website has some basic info on road closures and I have looked at death valley road conditions on facebook but no recent info is there. Im super stoked to get out and explore. Ive been stockpiling gear for a few months now to get ready.

Road washouts usually only happen with a lot of localized rain, so most often in the summer if there is a thunderstorm. Usually winter/spring rains are fairly mild and while they might leave standing water in places or some slippery mud in a spot or two they typically don't cause large washouts.

    Have a great trip!

Just getting out of the park this morning. Light drizzle overnight. It's raining a bit heavier to the east but the roads should be fine. It was pretty windy last night down in Warm Springs Canyon.

Is there backcountry camping off Dante's view rd and does anyone know how far from 190 the road is closed? What about Deadman Pass? Anyone been over it?

Hoping to hop back into the park Friday night on my way home.

Closed after the turn off onto Greenwater Valley Rd. No camping along Dante’s but should be able to camp anywhere once you are a mile or more down Greenwater. I’ve not done Deadman’s myself yet but from trip reports and photos it is just a gentle rise amongst creosote.

    Have a great visit!
