West Point grads are a little weird compared to other military acadameys (I went to Norwich which is a military acadamey in Vermont so it’s always fun to harp on West Point)
The micro manage part is tough anywhere, it’s kind of common in the military since typically things need to get done right away and their CO is probably breathing down their neck every 5 mins.
I wouldn’t take the water boarding comment to seriously it’s kind of sense of humor that would be funny to someone else in the service but I know ppl in the civilian world get a little weirded out.
I have a boss that wants to micro manage except he’s incompetent and I’m actually on top of my projects so he has no excuse to but his nose in

 

We only have one employee, but I give her very general directions and then let her go at it. If she has questions she knows she can ask my wife or I without any problem. Sometimes if we have a few specific things we want done, my wife will go meet with her for an hour and just make sure they are on the same page and then let her figure it out. If you hire people based on their abilities, or even a strong potential, you should trust them to do their jobs after an initial training period and leave them alone. If they can't, you try to correct the issue a few times and if it still isn't working, you then move on to someone else. But standing over someone all day and making sure they are doing the work I hired them for is stupid. I could just do it at that point and save us a bunch of money.

Did you though? I remember you had a little different attitude after you came home late and your wife was waiting up for you

 

I still won! Wife was mad because I was out of the house all day and missed St Patty's Day dinner with the family. We talked it through that night, and the next day again. All is well. So yep, still won!

 

Have you taken the lady for a test of the new suspension yet ??? ...... Not likely winning there...

 

You got me on that one. I'll give you that. Haven't really had to go anywhere that we drove to together, so not yet.

 

How un-Portuguese of you!! But in all seriousness I pretty much can't stand the stuff either. I'll dabble with vinho abafado but my dad likes to state that I can't possibly be his son since I really for the most part don't drink. My go to's are hard cider, twisted tea, anything fruity, and disarrono. I have made wine with the press and everything for as long as i can remember.

 

LOL! I have bottles and bottles of wine at home, but I don't touch them. They're there for when my dad and FIL come over. But even they don't really drink them since my FIL makes wine like a typical pokchop, so they always drink his stuff. Never really got into it. I'll have maybe a bit if we're at a fancy dinner, but that's about it.

Yea I have unopened bottles and lot's of homemade stuff just sitting in the cabinet. Hell my dad brought beer when we first moved in about 3 years ago and guess what, still have some. But my dad gets happy when he sees his stuff becoming vintage in the cabinet lol. I already told him when he passes we are having a party and lots of seafood especially lobster and he himself has a shelf across the back of the garage just stacked with boos, I told him every bottle will be opened before anybody is allowed to go home lol. But he's only in his 50s so he has time to add to the collection.
