    Snugtop cab high canopy.
    It appears to me that the driver likely didn't have time to react and stop even if she/he had been looking.
    The car failed to be safer than a human driver, I believe it should have detected the idiot crossing the street in the dark outside a crosswalk.

    Yup, lidar and radar give zero fucks about a crosswalk. The fact is that the pedestrian crossed at least 1.5 lanes before the hit and none of the cars sensors detected the person.

    I seen a Waymo car driving past my daughter's school this morning. It was cruising about 6 inches from the sidewalk. The driver and passenger weren't even paying attention to anything around them. I was tempted to test how well the car worked by running my steel toe boots over but my girl would have freaked.

    She should have noticed. It’s one thing to see the camera, but with light sensitivity on the recording device I think it looks worse than it was.

    Person didn’t just jump out. I think all of us have driven on the highway and stopped before hitting a deer or bag of trash. She was just complacent after hours of riding and thinking the machine was safe.
