understandable. what wheels / size / offset are you looking at?

side note: finally getting my headlights dropped off today
and I'm going over to meet the owner of Belfast Performance to pick up some Hella horns, a bracket, and a wiring harness, RokBlokz flaps came in yesterday, they look awesome, probably going to toss them on this weekend and the Remark Axleback should be here today (hopefully)

Honestly, I'd be happy with the stock size 18x8.5 with just a little lower offset to get the wheels a little more flush. 18x9.5 is super common for aftermarket WRX wheels, so I'll most likely end up with those. Stock offset is +55, and most aftermarket wheels seem to be low +30 to mid +40.

You're going all the way down to Norfolk for horns? :burnrubber: You, @TacoCat, and I need to get together sometime, so I can check out y'all's flaps. :spy:

yea I am actually REALLY happy with the OEM 2018 wheels... eventually I'll probably pick up some 18x9.5's +35ish on some 255/35 tires for summer and keep the stock wheels and toss some Blizzaks on for winter time

and nah, Belfast used to be in Norfolk, but the original owner (who worked for IBM) sold the company to his business partner in Lorton.... I met him through the Nova Subaru Facebook page and he offers some pretty good deals.... retail on the horns, bracket, and wiring harness is $120, he's giving it to me for $95 and he sells pretty much anything for our cars.

and yea man, for WV driving, flaps are absolutely necessary... and I REALLY like the thickness / rigidity (and $75 cheaper price) of the RB flaps over the Rally Armors

when it warms up, I'm going to try my hand at ceramic coating the WRX... I've been watching non stop videos and I think I can do it, it seems like prep work is the key

What's the name of the company now in Lorton? I googled the company you mentioned and google still lists it as being down in Norfolk. I stopped by Mach V in Sterling about a month ago when I picked up the CB that I bought from @PyritePirateBill. That's where I'm planning on buying my wheels from. They said they can clone my factory sensors to aftermarket sensors in the new wheels, so I don't have to run around with the tpms light on or reprogram the sensors registered in the ECU every winter.

I have existing sensors in my summer and winter tires. Do they need special sensors to clone to, or could they clone my oem set to the set in the winter wheels?

it's Belfast... they arent in Norfolk any more. He is now working out of Lorton and it's relatively recent

and yea I've heard a lot of good things out of Mach V!

I'd be curious to hear you elaborate on what sensor cloning is and how it's done.... my impression is I could just have 2 different sets of wheels w/ sensors and just reset each time I swap wheels

Probably dont even need to reset. When i put my summer tires back on, the system immediately saw them. I have sensors in my winter wheels, but the dealer said they can only program one set into the ecu. And they wanted like 150 to do it. So i would have to do that twice a year. No thanks. Ill drive around with the light on.

OEM sensors and fixed aftermarket sensors broadcast a fixed ID that is programmed into the ECU so you're not reading the TPMS from the car next to you. Clonable aftermarket sensors allow you to program in what ID they broadcast, so you read the ID from the sensor that you want to clone and program it into the new sensor.

If you have multiple sets of wheels with unique ID sensors, then you have to reprogram the ECU to look for the right set of sensors whenever you change wheels. With cloned sensors, you just slap on the new set of wheels and the car knows no different because it is seeing the same set of sensor IDs.

Makes sense. Ill have to look into getting a set of clonable sensors next time i need new tires then. Too bad the ecu couldnt handle two sets, and just flip a switch between them.

oh wow that's pretty cool.... I'll have to make sure I get sensors that can do that! I didnt even know that was a thing. haha

Toyota charges about the same to program TPMS sensors. I had a shop near work try to program the sensors in my wheels to the truck, and they couldn't for some reason. I called Toyota to see what they charged. Needless to say, I've been driving with the TPMS light on since Dec 2016.

No worries, I'll be headed to lowes shortly. I had to buy custom screws to mount the Baja cause surprise surprise, the ones that come from Baja don't actually fit the bumper, even though demello sells them with Baja's. Siggggggghhhhhhhh
