but even if just 1 dude did you own your mistake, somehow. like stated before, OP didn't write the code for discount lol. he isn't the one that made it "work" on the site.

How do you suggest they own their mistake? They didn't blame the OP. They just told him they couldn't honor the discount and refunded his money. I'm struggling to understand what else is expected of them.

Edit: I should state that I'm not defending CBI, just looking to learn from the situation.

If they posted the code (as was stated, not proven yet) then they should honor it.

If they didn't post the code (not sure how it would work if they didn't make the code) then the apology and explanation is enough, but haven't visually seen that be the case. Siding with the customer (because customer is usually right...sorry I know your'e a business lol) OP stated they basically said "F off" so just need to know what was said between the two.

Also, the money should be capable of being refunded sooner in my opinion but who knows?

How do you mistakenly put a discount code for 50% off and then it get released to the general public? If it was an ambassador code that someone shittly let lose that would make good sense and would be easily explainable and everyone (I assume) would understand.

If it was just one person that used the code I would say just make the rack and send it to them.

I detail cars and I’ve had customers simply misunderstand what a package they purchased included. If they were nice and understanding I generally just did the work they thought would’ve been included.

saw your edit, I'm not trying to be on either side similar to you. just simply speaking from my opinion.

also, I like seeing that you involve yourself in learning from customers. seen it multiple times from you.

I've definitely looked your way for products (I just don't have the spare dough for some right now haha).

[this is an example of how customer service brings in customers]

This comment makes it sound like CBI was your only option for bumpers and that all non-local companies have poor customer service.

my apologies, didn't intend it to sound that way. just simply saying it was an easy decision to stay local because of customer service potential issues. if a company has proven good customer service I'd have no hesitancy ordering.

Sounded like they created the code for a GB, but the GB fell through.

I'm assuming they didn't literally tell the customer to fuck off. If they did, then shame on them. But basically telling someone to take a hike and literally tell them to fuck off are vastly different. I'm assuming the OP is just disappointed he didn't get a screaming deal on a couple racks and not that CBI was a total dick to him. But shit, maybe they were. I guess we don't know unless we actually heard the conversation. I still think it's fair that they explained they couldn't honor the code and refunded his money. I don't think they were unreasonable or shady in any way.

8-10 days is pretty standard. It's something with the credit card processors. I'm not really sure why it takes them so long, but that's just the way it is. Cash is still king I suppose.

well said, I agree with you. still some information missing.

I guess I just tend to side more on the....does $700 break a company, or does potentially TERRIBLE "advertising" break them? we've all been around long enough to see how a bad review (justified or not) turns to a shit show on Tacoma World...

I know what you were saying. Just making sure you cleared it up for the general vieing public.

I have seen very few bad reviews from companies located on the east coast. just sayin

No I don't believe it would tank them. But for a small business based in Montana $700 is easily a weeks wages for one of their employees.

Disagre with this simply because they stated that they couldn’t honor it because of the margins on the product.
I doubt they have a 50% margin on the rack.

I just wanna know why or how this code came into existence. That would explain a lot.

50% off? Sounds like a 'secret' code made specifically for an ambassador/sponsorship type deal. No wonder it would get cancelled if you were not the intended recipient of the code. I've heard of similar codes and cancelled orders from other companies in the offroad industry as well, codes intended for 1 specific person in order to get them a product for advertising/review/etc.
No way a GB code could be 50% off IMO, especially if the vendor is not known for offering sales and GB's

From my perspective they fixed their mistake. They cancelled the order quickly and made sure it couldn't happen anymore. It suck op has to wait for his money back but if it's really that big of a heartache he probably shouldn't have spent it to begin with.
