2018 pre-collision disable?

Figures. I've got a buddy who's working on a module to replace the radar sensor. Apparently it'll send the signal confirming that it exists (to keep the light off) but not actually contain any active input capability. Sounds intriguing but I worry about the potential legal implications.

 

You bought the wrong grill. I have the Chinese Pro grill on my 18 and the radar senor mount up identical to the 18 Pro grill. I bought the 18 garnish and everything works perfect.

 

Looks good. Any TSS malfunctions?

Just following up on my post.... The intermittent Clean the sensor / "PCS OFF" light, has turned into a system malfunction. Hoping to see what the problem is at the dealer next week. (1,860 miles)

 

On the fence about buying this but the price is TGTBT. How is the quality of the knock off and who was the seller? eBay seller?

 

The seller was areyoushop. The quality is exactly the same as OE. I had my truck parked next to a 17 Pro and was comparing the two. Very hard to tell the difference.

 

Oooooofffff, I hate any kind of auto-braking. Exept ABS, ABS can stay. I almost crashed thanks to an auto-braking system (non-toyota)

 

How could you not love your 17 MT bro!?!

 

TSS is senseless if you’re off roading

 

OK so turn it off when you go off road.

 

Had my 18 OR for a few months now. I love the TSS and Adaptive Cruise. It saved my ass when someone slammed on their brakes in front of me for no reason. Never “acts up” like some have been saying and never randomly slams on the brakes. My truck is even lifted so that eliminates the doubt it works after you lift it. It doesnt get in the way when im off roading either. Overall it works well.

 

I’m not sure you can, haven’t seen any confirmation of it. Thankfully I don’t have TSS.

The longer you keep a vehicle the more issues you have with electronic features.

I’ve seen people spend thousands $$ diagnosing electrical problems and go absolute ape shit only to sell the vehicle at a huge loss.

But I’m wondering if it’s malfuntioning with the dash light on will the light go away with turning it off?

Also, can’t help wondering if Toyota will make TSS full time without the option to turn off and rendering the vehicle inoperable if you modify the TSS system.

I slammed on my brakes a few months back, looked in the rear view mirror because it was a really hard stop... had a car coming fast, noticed her head was down, her car slammed on her brakes, she gave the oh crap look. It definitely saved me from being rear ended. Her car was a Nissan I think.

 

Soooo looks like this old thread has new "life"! If anyone is successful in totally disabling their TSS, I just want to remind them to contact their insurance agent as well.
I know for a fact some insurance companies add in a discount for these systems. (AAA does). If your insurance co IS giving you a discount -- I would bet they surely like to know if you have knowingly disabled these same systems. Like -get a clue- these cars are computer controlled/monitored. In the event of a severe crash with injuries -- the same computer could be checked!!?? I will leave "it" there for you to think about!

 

I stand corrected on this (my own) comment -- after driving a couple of 18 Camrys, --you CAN desensitize these systems on the Toyotas --same on the Tacomas -- I think?
