It tough to use the bed as a gauge as it can shift around, especially if the alignment pins broke in the accident or were never put back on the frame when re assembled. Are both tires wearing like that, or just the one side?

edit: Did you have this taken care of with insurance, only asking because if thats the case I would get in touch with them and let them know your vehicle is still messed up.

Only one tire is wearing like that. At the moment insurance is not taking care of anything, and so any and all work will be done by me with help of this forum and youtube

Where are the alignment pins located? I can check that today.

If the frame is bent is that not considered a total loss through your insurance ?

Well thats unfortunate about insurance. Well if only one tire is doing it you are probably on track with the new axle housing, if it was both it could have just been the axle not sitting right.

Alignment pins will be hard to see with the bed on the truck as they are mounted to the frame and the bed sits on them. I think its only two, one up front on the driver side and one rear on passenger side, atleast thats how my bed was. They are just plastic nubs no bigger than a quarter at the base and come to a point about an inch high

To adjust the bed, just loosen the bed bolts and give it a good shove to straighten it out

    Yeah.
Leaf spring mounting points should be looked at, and definitely check the shock. The impact could have damaged the shock shaft or seals, and that wheel might be bouncing all over the place if there is no damping. If those look good, I would try the whole axle assembly from the junk yard.

Mine is 410 and yours is 456.. Will that work on mine? Do you know of any threads that can walk me through adding elocker to truck that does not have one?

Rancho Cordova has an exact match for me for 800 but if an elocker is an upgrade i can use maybe we can meet up this weekend

Would a bad shock cause the wheel to rotate unevenly? I'm not sure how to fully inspect a shock but visually it looks a little bruised up

The one Im selling is actually 3.73... if you are 4wd and your front gears are 4.10 than you would need to pickup and front 3.73 clamshell as I sold all mine.

If you are 2wd it will be fine.

    Yeah.
No, not rotate unevenly, but it would bounce like crazy at speed and wear the tire. You can take it off and compress/extend it as a check -- you'll have to take it off to replace the axle anyway. It should be hard to compress quickly and extend quickly, but should move slowly. If it is easy to do, you are either The Hulk or it is blown. Do both sides if it is blown.

The only thing that would cause the tire to rotate unevenly is a bent wheel or axle/hub. A bent housing may just cause a camber or toe issue depending on which way it is bent, but could cause other general funkiness and is just bad for everything it touches.

If possible, I'd have a body shop look at the frame and see if anything structurally moved. They should also be able to tell you if the axle is bent. If the frame and associated spring mounts are ok and the axle is bent, then replace the entire rear end.

you aren't going to be able to unless you have a friend and ALL the right equipment. Far easier to remove third member and axles, install housing itself, than put the 3rd anday axles baclick in.

Thanks for reply! Whats the third member? Also any recommendation to stop oil from leaking everyone? Do people use clamps or just drain into a bucket?

Take out the very bottom plug and drain the fluid, remove driveshaft, u bolts, and shocks along with all necessary lines and you should be alright. the third member is also referred to as the diff, differential, rear diff, rear axle, axle housing.

Guy from autozone told me to use this wrench for brake line but looks like I still stripped it. I think this is going to be a long night

You will need a case of beer and a good friend for sure! 2 jack stands and a rolling jack are essential a second friend or a spouse for a few minutes is appreciated for rolling the jack. The e brake cables are fun. I would recomend keeping the trucks original lines and disconnecting the replacements at the drums. Look up changing brake shoes. It’s not fun doing drum brakes and you may want to invest in some new tools specific to the job. I just did the same on mine for other reasons.
