I have a FLIR One Pro camera that I use for work. Could I not shoot a picture of the transmission where the overfill plug is, after bringing tranny fluid up to proper temp of course, to tell if it’s adequately full or low?

The camera also measures temperatures between -4°F and 752°F (-20° to 400°C) with up to three spot temperature meters and six temperature regions of interest.

I deal with thermal cameras quit often. I don’t think this would work. The fluid will bring the whole transmission case up in temp. Therefore you won’t see a line per say at the overflow. Flir cameras don’t have enough detail to see the fill line.

Science experiment! To know for sure you need to do the trans fluid exchange the conventional way while taking the FLIR readings in parallel. Please report finding back here.

Cool; but it doesn't look like you can determine pan fluid level.

Yes and no, you could with a time lapse. I’ll make a video later.
I’ll use it for temperature checks mainly. If the truck is on a lift it’s easier to get the camera in the proper position and angle but yeah being such a small pan doesn’t offer much variance and it’s easy to pull the overfill plug and verify.
