Hey guys. So as I've posted about a dozen times now, I got hit while parked a while back. I ended up doing the work myself which went smoothly enough. When I told insurance I was just going to take the cash estimate, one of the things they warned me of though was to be sure to clear any crash-detecting codes from the truck's memory.

I hooked up an OBII sensor, it didn't show any codes. This was a reasonably low-speed colission, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was no 'recording,' but wanted to see if anyone knew of some other way I should be checking.

If you have a simple obdII scanner it won’t give you the codes it’ll only give you check engine codes you need a professional scanner to look at codes on all the systems. I am a tech so for example at work we have a simple obd scanner and then one that’s $4K and it’ll pull up different systems and check for codes and erase them

You have to have a mechanic clear the crash codes. I got rear ended and only a mechanic could fix the codes

Isn't Techstream the software tool that Toyota uses?

do they still use "chips" for each vehicle as well? I remember the scanner is like $4,000 and then each chip was $xxx

The one we have is a software that’s uploaded onto a heavy duty tablet so you no longer need the keys or “chips”

If you don't have any airbag lights on you are probably ok.

There are different layers to crash detection, one I can't even access with the Toyota Techstream, only Toyota engineers can approve the SRS data vault.

Any other SRS code would trigger an airbag warning light.

The other concern bodyshops have are Pre-Collision System calibrations due to accidents, but you have a 2017 so its not a concern.
