Looking for thoughts. I can’t decide if this battery mount is sufficient

Throw another support out there if it fits easily. I worked with a few Race teams many years ago and we always had batteries falling off... silly reason to not finish a race. Mount that sucker good!

A battery weighs ~50lbs.. 1" of full penetration weld into 3/16 can hold a few thousand pounds in theoretical calcs

Not sure I wanna spend the cash in powder coating. Should've taken a pic before using naval jelly.

Red Oxide rattle cans. Then top coat with rusto black and clearcoat if you're feeling fancy ;)

I use the x2 clear rusto on most of my stuff on my truck like wheels and undercarriage stuff.

Where do you get the red oxide cans from?

    Good ol HD https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Ol...sty-Metal-Flat-Spray-Primer-7769830/202056392

You could get it from a good paint store and it would more per can, but we're talking about a desert truck, not a wrought iron fence in New England... works for me. I've had rusto clear on my black painted wheels for 3 years. They're easy to touch up - just clean'm, scuff'm and reclear them whenever needed - you don't even have to mask off the tires since it's minimal overspray with a minimal amount of carefulness and it's clear anyway - just looks like tire shine for a little while lol.

My latest project: (saved $150 or so not powdercoating)

Kills (Kilz?) used to sell it, but now the nearest thing I can find is the red rusty metal primer, besides the "Farm Implement" Red Oxide cans from rusto. I haven't used the farm stuff and can't say if it's any better or worse. But if you do 2-3 good coats of the primer and then 2-3 good coats of the black w/ or w/o the clear, you shouldn't have any problems until you tear the thing apart again.

Just give the parts as long as you can in hot dry weather to dry before re-installing them. You'll get less scuffs that go through the paint and chips that way - a week is ideal in normal desert weather ie not humid and above 65. A couple days will work if needed and the same day is probably going to work as well if needed lol. You can always give it a spritz once it's installed with some cardboard to mask off stuff you don't want to get painted. Not that there's much down there like that - maybe shocks and limit straps I guess.

Yeah once the rain goes away which will be in 20hrs, I'll start prepping the rest of the truck for some priming. Leaf are out, socks are next.

Hey guys, had all my fluids changed last week and I reminded them that I had the LSD rear end so they would not forget the friction additive. I’m on a road trip this morning and in stop and go traffic up in LA. I felt this weird occasional slight shudder when in D and accellerating slowly from a near stop. Anyone have experience with LSD’s, is this a symptom of a lack of friction additive ?

Yeah 52.5 has been the magic number for a lot of people - I got some on the way so I'm interested to see how you have yours set up!

@Anthony250 runs them too - he can probably be of more help.
