I've always been an early riser. I'm not cutting yet. Just marking out what I'm going to cut right now. Wife is still sleeping. I tried playing nice with the neighbors but one called the HOA on me instead of coming to me with her concerns. One has a dog that doesn't shut up when he's out no matter what time he's out. Another across the way I tried saying hi to but just turns and walk away. So yeah I don't let the neighbors dictate my work schedule in the garage anymore. But I do keep the garage closed for privacy unless I'm welding. Thanks tho. But don't be. I see the $$$ keep going up.

Coming from someone who grew up in the middle of no where country now living in a HOA, I can say something to this. For the longest I gave much respect to my neighbors until they didnt give respect back. I now have to spend a metric shit ton of money to keep my yard weed free because both of my neighbors are too effing lazy to even remotely think about mowing their yard. They also dont give a shit about respecting late night quiet times no matter how many times Ive asked them to keep it down because you keep waking us and my kid up with your stupid ass domestic disturbance out in your front yard or your stupid ass teenage kids are arguing with their friends/boyfriend/girlfriend/babymomma drama in the front yard at 2 am. Lets not get started on the guitar playing on the amp turned up to 11 at 7am because you need to practice for your church band, use fucking head phones. Keep in mind this is in one of the nicest cities and even nicer neighborhood. So if you want to be a complete douche of a neighbor, I really could careless if I wake you up working on my truck, use those fucking head phones you should be using with your stupid ass amp. So keep on doing your thing with your truck dude, neighbors can suck it if they want to be shitbags first. In my previous house I had some awesome neighbors, and would do anything for them and would keep great boundaries and they would do the same. Our cul de sac was best on the block, but these other assholes can eat a dick.

That’s why we moved from suburbia to the country without even looking back.

I’m not an asshole about it. I’m still curious. It’s about timing. I time the loud shit durning 9am to 6pm unless I’m on a crunch. But I don’t think about “well the neighbors will be bothered” because cutting and grinding steel is loud. For the most part the neighbor keep to them selves and so do I.

I had cut down a tree in my back yard that was dead and placed it on the small portion of the lawn beside my “back porch”. It was only visible if you walked up to my side gate and looked over. So yeah. Wasn’t happy HOA sent me a letter about that. But whatever. So let’s just say I don’t shovel her snow anymore like I used to.

Oh how I wish I could. My wife is very much a city person in a sense, and would be hard convinced to move out where I would want to. Im hoping when we move to CO after her grad school, Im able to find a good compromise that will enable me to have distance from my neighbors.

My wife and I both grew up inner city so we just kept moving farther out. Luckily she’s just as happy as I am out here.

Mine would be comfortable to an extent, but a few things keep us from going out too far. A)Her job relieves heavily on being near a metro area so her commute is one that is held higher than mine in consideration B)My wife loves fashion and anything related to it, so being near certain labels/stores is key (Gotta love a classy lady who can look fine AF:D) C)wife loves to venture in and around the city to bars/restaurants as much as time allows so being close to those things is key also.

So being in suburbia is where we wind up, but im hoping we can find that happy medium when we move. Far enough away from neighbors for me, but close enough for her to get the commute and things she needs.

Erie has pockets of older neighborhoods
which never established an HOA kind of nice family is in one of those areas. But basicly anything new now has an HOA with it. Sadly i am Moving into an HOA community. But this is more of an investment property i could later sell to get into something else i feel as things grow.

Spot on. Letting a dog out to bark for an hour or trying to be a Faith No More wanna be cover band in the neighborhood, not cool and not hobbies. Truck is.

Yep, best idea. Would love to build a small house. Also need 2 to 3 goats. Might throw in a llama who knows.
