I've told this story before but here it is again...

My boss moved to PA from Nebraska in 2010 but she'd just gotten her Nebraska license renewed in 2009 and procrastinated for four years, even though you are required by law to get a PA license with 60 days. I believe a Nebraska driver's license is valid for 5 years. My boss moved within the state like three times before finally getting a PA license, so it would have been annoying to keep changing addresses anyway...

    Sooo...

Before long my boss's license was less than two months from expiring! Then she lost the wallet with her Nebraska license in it! Then there was a screwup on the part of the social security office when she sent away for a new social security card! By the time my boss had everything she needed to get a PA license, her Nebraska license had been expired for almost a month and the physical license was missing, never to be seen again. So, my boss had to get a "certified driving abstract" from Nebraska. We finally ended up making it to the DMV two days before Christmas!

Since my boss's license was expired, I insisted on driving her to the DMV. Keep in mind that at this point my boss had her birth certificate, social security card, and all of the other necessary paperwork, but no license (no photo ID at all, actually)!

Pennsylvania law states that any new resident can transfer their expired out-of-state license for a PA license if it is expired for six months or less, and if the actual license is missing, a "certified driving abstract" will be accepted. So guess what...

PennDOT made a quick call to the Nebraska DMV, my boss took the eye test, and about an hour later we walked out with her brand new completely valid Pennsylvania driver's license. This was two days before Christmas, and the DMV actually provided good, efficient service! I was amazed! I tossed her the keys and let her drive the Tacoma home to celebrate...

Never been a big Dakota fan. But not a hater either.

My FIL has an '03 Extra cab, 2WD, SLT, 3.9. I'm the one who services his vehicles, so I've spent my share of hours wrenching on it over the years. Oil changes are a PITA due to the filter location. But other than that it's fairly easy to work on.

He's owned it for nearly 12 years....he bought used when it was not quite 2 years old.

In that dozen years it's seen nothing but Walmart SuperTech 10w-30 conventional oil. I did switch to the high mileage formula a couple of years ago. He's cheap and doesn't believe in spending more than $20 on an OC.

Had the valve covers off a while back to change the gaskets. The valve train looked great....clean and sludge free. She also uses no oil between changes.

    High dollar oils be dammed!

BTW Charlie...know where the 3.9 V6 came from? Chrysler did what many domestic manufacturers did. They created a V6 by eliminating 2 cylinders from a V8. The 3.9 was a cut down version of the 5.2 (318) V8. Hence the reason some of the Dakotas had the 5.2 has an option. It dropped right in....bolted right up to the tranny.

Not the FILs rig....but looks very much like it.

You know there's a place in the Philly area called Chadd's Ford?

I think they should rename it Chad's Toyota, LOL.
