Best Way To Clean Windows ?

When I wash (detail) my vehicles ... I have NEVER found a way to get the inside windows completely smear aka streak free.

What products and/or procedures to you use or suggest and what results do you get ??

Also, is it OK to clay the outside windows ?? ..... Now, I use a light Scotch-Pad on the outside windows to get the bugs & grime off ?

Any and all suggestions are appreciated .... Thanks ...

I use some lightly soapy water (tint and Windex are a bad combo) with a squeegee and a few pieces of black and white ink only, or blank newsprint.

 

Having someone with very long arms, at least for the windshield

I second the newspaper. I've used it with tint safe glass cleaner with good results. Can't remember how streak free, but better than with a towel

And keep in mind glass finish is just like wax finish- Gotta buff it a bit to get it perfect. Obviously the less streaks you start with that much less work you'll have to do.

 

be sure to stay away from ammonia based glass cleaners.

 

Newspaper and Stoner's Invisible Glass. Works great, inside or out...

 

The best thing I have found, right after I got this truck, is this stuff called, uh, crap, what's it called, um, I'll go look...

SPRAYWAY glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Took this suggestion from detailers somewhere, likely on TW. It kicks ass, and it kicks Windex's ass to the mfing curb, then wipes it's ass with Windex's ass, it's that good.

And it is cheap and they have it at Home Depot, at least where I live. Google it.

God I hate this site. Now leave me alone so I can get some stuff done...

I've been looking for one of those, where did you get yours? I've seen the ones on TV and refuse to pay $19.95+S&H or however much they're asking since it looks like $7.50 to me.

You can get them anywhere (Walgreens, Walmart, Kragen, etc.) but I actualy found mine at the Dollar Store so I bought 5 of them.

 

I use a Cobra microfiber towel that came in a kit I bought a while ago. It's ment for cleaning windows and it's all I use on the inside tinted windows with a little water. It works great because microfiber has NO LINT, which is key for the inside windshield.

Also, while we're on the topic (don't mean to thread-jack) is it ok to use a razor blade to clean the outside windows, u know, to really get the tiny shit off?? Just want y'all opinion.

 

I took my truck to a detailer to get rid of waterspots on the outside of my windows. After he followed up with RainX, the trick he said was to apply it with a wet towel. Spray both the window and the rag, and buff with a dry microfiber.

 

Yeah, I use one on my windshield all the time. It's ok to use on the interior windows as long as you don't have any "after-market" window tint installed.

 

Dang, I'll keep looking. I've only seen them in one of the auto stores around here and it was $10. I'm too cheap to pay $10 for that...

 

Did he by any chance tell you how he got the water spots off the outside windows? Because I would love to know!!! I can never get my outside windows perfect.
