Reminds me of Christmas Hill Park, Gilroy, CA

When I was a kid they had a 30' power line pole, complete with climbing pegs... as part of the big playground.

I remember climbing up and sitting on the top.

Car tire on the rear wheel of a motorcycle isn't that big of a WTF -- i've seen it done for years on bikes that are mostly long distance touring without a lot of twisties and/or commuter bikes. That looks like a CTX1300 with a topcase, which fits the lots of superslab usage thought. Not something I'd ever do, but not all that uncommon in certain segments

I've seen touring bikes with a car tire before, just not a snow tire.

Ah, good point. I've been in the South since the mid-90's and forget about those things. Maybe they figure it's more grippy than an all-season? :)

I watched the video on BBC and I was wondering if the bicycle wheels reflected or caused enough 'noise' to confuse the lidar, as teh bicycle was between the perp and the car...:notsure:

The LIDAR company is saying the problem isn't on their end, that the problem lies with Uber's software. Hopefully they were still logging all of the data, otherwise this will just be a bunch of people pointing fingers at each other.

We use LIDAR in measuring mountain snowpack to aid in broader understanding of climate and water resources, on the side predicting amount and timing of runoff for downstream users (Vegas, Phoenix, LA, etc). It doesn't miss anything we can cross-check, so its a matter of the application.

I think there is a large percentage of the population that can't drive for shit, and that we'd all be safer if a robot drove for them! Every day some numbnut driver isn't paying attention and mowes someone down. If (when) they get the system working better I look forward to those lazy people being relived of the burden so they can concentrate on texting.

It all comes down to responsibility and accountability and we threw that out the window years ago. Today so many people want to be coddled from cradle to grave, after all why should I have to do anything for myself.
