MD is certainly a more expensive state when comparing it to the states that surround it BUT the average income is also much higher when comparing to the states around it. Just like Long Island, sure it's more in taxes and cost of living but the average income is also going to be higher. NC is definitely cheaper than MD but the average person won't make anywhere close to the same salary. I bet if you go by percentages, all states are fairly close. I came from DE where it is dirt cheap but my salary was also very low for the same job in MD. Took a job in MD that paid about 40% more, but my rent was also about 40% more than what it was in DE. So saying "MD is expensive" is biased.

I moved here with work with a promotion and took my NY pay along with me. In NY, my 4br house on 3/4 acre cost 400K and taxes were $14,000 a year. That's just insane and from what I have heard MD is far from that bad as far as taxes go. I do agree with most of what you said though. When I transfer to NC, I will take my pay with me and that will allow me to live very nicely. For the most part though people there feel the same way as we do wherever we're from.

You're lucky that pay transfers from state to state. Great in your case since youre going to a cheaper state but would suck if say they moved you to LA, California.

Best part is, I pick where I want to go and if I want to go. They legally can't decrease my pay unless they demote me which won't happen. I would hope they would increase pay if someone was moved to a more expensive state otherwise that person would likely refuse the move. I do work for an awesome company though, they have their share of BS like anywhere else but I love what I do.

You buy a 4R?!?!?! My 16 came with those mats, not bad at all for OEM all weather mats.

Ah I can't wait believe me lol. MD was just a stop for me between NY and NC Position was open here with the promotion, only reason i'm here. I have about another year left on my agreement and i'm out. I will say MD is better than NY but FAR from an ideal state to live in. Politics suck, that's a HUGE part of it for me. One of the main reasons I left NY and will never even consider moving back.

What's funny is so many people here agree MD sucks but yet they all stay? I don't get it.

Very central to a shit load of everything. NYC, Baltimore, DC, Philly, atlantic ocean, mountains, tons of sports venues and career fields pay well.

See and that's EXACTLY what I don't want lol. I grew up 30 minutes from NYC, just over the Queens / Long Island border, i've had enough of that BS What's good about Baltimore, DC, NYC, nothing at all unless you're into being in the hood with no room to move. I want sticks, property, I don't want to see my neighbors unless I invite them over. Look at Mooresville NC, Lake Norman. That's where i'm headed. Nothing not to love.

After thinking about it more, I think I'm going to go with 1/2" since I don't think cutting 1" will be much fun lol. I have to make a frame in the shape of the OEM speaker and then build it up so no matter what it'll be stacked material. The 1/2" material will be much easier to work with and tweak how I need it.
