5100 install idea

Tell me if this is a stupid, good or ok idea.

I was thinking about buying a set of OEM springs and a set of 5100, and get a friend of mine to drop everything off at the only shop I trust 100 miles away from me and get them to install the 5100 on the springs. Then after he picks them up for me I can install them myself and take the factory spring and shock and turn around and sell it on EBAY. I looked and OEM springs are around $160.00. Thanks for your opinion.

 

If you are going to go through the trouble of taking everything off, you might as well get a $20 spring compressor and do it yourself.

As for the ebay idea, you should give back to TW and sell them to your fellow members first.

 

Yes that is a good idea, especially if you're uncomfortable with spring compressors, like myself that shit'll kill you if you don't know what you're doing

 

I'm looking to install mine pretty much the same way, although a good shop is a bit closer for me. Made sense when I thought it through, just waiting til I have them time to disassemble, reassemble and get an alignment.

 

Yeah it's not a crazy hard job, if there's a place closer I would look into that, save some gas

 

What kind of weird experience have you had with spring compressors?
This scares you?

 

The shop is loacted in West Monroe, Louisiana. It is within a mile of both Skyjacker and Superlift, and works with both of them. I know that it will be done right there. I would hate to screw up something.

 

It's pretty hard to screw up and there is a DIY thread on installing them

 

AvsFanTRD: yes, having no experience with that stuff and the fact that a buttload of force is at hand, I'd rather not mess with it. I honestly just don't trust myself

 

understandable, I was just trying to save the guy a couple hundred $. They really don't have to be compressed that far to switch them out. but to each his own...
