I haven't tried regular AE, but I have 2 bottles of the AE rye that is fantastic. They keep the Hibiki Harmony hidden because it is very popular and limited. I think they want to have it for those who know to ask for it and would appreciate it. Same for Blanton's. All the places around here do that. I would really like to have a peek into their stash cabinet to see what else is in there!

Have you tried it yet? I seem to recall seeing another whiskey that is ocean aged but can't remember the name offhand.

yeah that's my bottle. it's good in a unique way and i gotta say it's super refreshing and a bit different. it's not aged long, but the malt profile is similar to dead guy ale. so it's medium sweet, fairly light, a bit spicy. but not the deeper heat from longer aged stuff, nice in this weather. i like variety but think i would buy this again.

The Rye AE was about $95 there. I can get a bottle of Corryvreckan for that, so I don’t think I would ever spend that much for a non-Scotch!

Finally picked up a bottle of buffalo trace. That’s a great bottle for $20.

AE Rye is $75 a bottle here. Definitely not cheap. It's all a matter of individual taste. I've got 2 bottles of Scotch (The Glenlivet 18 and a Glenmorangie Lasanta) that are just Meh. I wouldn't buy either again as they just don't have much going on. Again, just my taste. But I also haven't had a wide variety of Scotch, so I'm more than willing to try more!

I don't do blends for the same reason I don't use cocktail sauce on oysters.

Wolfhound - Irish - under $20 - great any time for any legitimate whiskey use
Power Gold - Irish - under/about $30 - it used to be under $20 - reserved for guests and when She wants a propper Hot Toddy.
Tullimore Dew - Irish - It's what people think Irish is about
Jameson - Irish - when it's gifted to me, I don't buy it. It's like the nasty kick of JD that folks pull a face when they drink it - it's drink, enjoy it or don't drink it...

Lahpoig - Scots - One bottle per year bought on sale at Christmas by me for me - I have one open and 2 in reserve - Right, thanks for reminding me.

CC or Segrams 7 - Because Dad

Jefferson - USA - For Patriotic talk surrounding the events of April 19, 1775 - The date of conception of the USA

Makers - USA - For the sweet tooth's
The Knot - Irish - For the sweeter tooth's

Gentleman Jack, Woodruff and a few others

OK - There's not may I hate and I'll just stop there.

Aren’t half those whiskies blends? Jameson? Makers? Maybe that’s the joke.

After having 3 fingers tonight, I'd have to agree. Small splash of water. Let it sit for 5 min. Very good, especially for the money. Might just be my regular go-to so I don't deplete the more pricey ones in my cabinet.
