Not sure if I posted this, but back in Nov/Dec, the first cake I made fell victim to Ash. I was so upset.

I put BabyT up for sale to see if I could even sell a truck with a hole in the engine. I thought $8k was a fair starting point given the immediate 4-5k they would have to drop for the engine replacement at a shop. I am surprised to see so many people interested in it. Really thought I would get a few people low balling at 3-4K, looking for an easy profit. I have actually recieved some fair offers/interest in it.

Doesn't mean I am selling. I am still hoping to just pull the engine and have another summer of use for BT. We are in a weird place for vehicles. The dodge is running strong but needs basic maintenance (fuck that truck is expensive), baby T needs the engine pulled, and Lizzy's xterra is around 150k mi. Those xterras are known to blow transmissions so we want to get her into something newer. Once the house closes I'll make some tough decisions.

My guess is I'll pull (at least try to) BT's engine and DD it. Lizzy will get a new to her Subaru, and the dodge will be maintained and used more for the heavy lifting (BBQ comps, firewood, picking up materials for house projects, etc).

Ha! I mean currently it's Ash, no adventures, and a dead taco. So let's try to get some adventures back into the mix and I'll consider getting a Taco back into the mix.

yeah the cummins isn't a cheap motor to run haha

I think you'd regret selling babyt pretty quickly. probably be super easy to sell the dodge though if you had too.

I have had quite a bit of interest on the dodge. It would be a quick sale in this area for sure. Not sure what we will do with it but the ball joints are due and I don't want to dish out that cash haha.

they are a hot item anywhere around ID/Mt/Wy/Co. I see ones with 250k+ going for 12-18 grand all the time. Its nuts. But they are great tow rigs/work trucks. If i was doing a tow setup thats what Id run.

I don't know if the trannies are the same or not but my '04 Pathfinder that I sold last year had 230k on the odo when I sold it and it's running strong. I've not seen this trans problem on the Xterras that I can remember. Only $1.2 million for the cats when they go out. Ridiculous!

I could be wrong but I remember reading about it a year or so ago when she had some interesting noises. Just so happened I have seen several on for sale pages with the transmission needing to be replaced too (but who knows the maintenance record on them). It's been a solid car for us but she wants something different. It's 2wd too. I was surprised how well it gets around in the snow. that hasn't been a big issue for us. She got stuck a few times in Laramie, but winters here are a breeze.

Oh yeah, I forgot that was missing something. I bought a Jeep XJ a few years ago knowing that I could make a buck on it. I went out to test the 4x4 one day and couldn't find the 4wd shifter. Finally, I looked underneath it and saw the lack of pumpkin. Broke even on the sale but learned a valuable lesson that day.

Lizzy wanted to buy a fancy cake knife set from Etsy for $50. It was nice and well worth the asking price, but she's marrying me. A penny pinchin do-it-yourselfer. So I bought $23 of black walnut and went in blind. This knife is too small so I get to do it again...but I'm not complaining. I can make about 18 of these from what I bought. So I guess we are going to have a full set of wooden utinsels for the new place.

The blade looks to be too thick. Make a bunch of practice cakes for testing purposes.

It probably is but I thought the same thing. I should probably test it a few times to make sure it works.

Lizzy's been in Wyoming for 3 days and unless I want her to test how sharp it is on me...I need to get to cleaning.

Well it cut my Costco chocolate muffin. It could use some thining on the blade for sure. I'll be making the larger version tomorrow and change the design quite a bit. This was more of a "is this a dumb idea?" prototype.

Put some work in today. We plan to use these cedar logs for a fence at our new place.
