Anyone know where to find 1/8" thick Black Rubber Sheeting? The Apron Seal (guess that's what it's called) that covers the opening to the engine compartment is dry rotting and torn. I thought I would cut my own instead of buying it from the stealership.

    Thanks

Yeah, that's bs! It would be easy to cut from the one on the truck. Maybe someone will chime in on where to get that stuff.

I have no idea, but have been wondering the same thing because I always thought it would be nice to put some in the rear wells between the bed and the frame rails to keep mud out of there. Never figure out how to attach it though since I haven't found the material yet.

Maybe someone could try shower pan liner. They sell it at Lowes by the foot for cheap. It's about an 1/8th inch and obviously made for water or moisture.

I went to a local rubber supply store in my AO and found a solution for the apron seal. They have all kinds of scrap rubber material that is sold by the pound.

Neoprene was the solution I chose, because the other stuff was too thick. It is was tougher than the crap on the truck. I bought enough for 4 pieces. Material thickness was 1/8". I think they turned out well. All for $18

I traced w/ a pencil and cut with scissors

Then I hit the shiny side with emory cloth and drilled the mounting holes

    Here they are mounted

awesome. i have tons of plastic material. it is used as waterproofing for a tunnel that we are building. it would outlast the stock stuff 10x. one side is bright yellow tho, the other is black.

I reused the clips and pulled the hole over it.

BTW, do you guys know the part number of those clips? They are not the ones like the grille & mudflaps. The online parts schematics do not list the part number.

Check locally at a rubber hose or fittings shop.

Just an idea. What about pond liner sold at a nursery. That stuff is pretty strong and flexible.

Not sure that I have seen that stuff. If it is Black and thin enough, then why not? Probably cheap too, if you don't have to buy the pond size quantity. :DLOL
