Debating tire sizes

I purchased some new black rhino17" rims and installed a 3" roughcountry leveling kit on my 2017. Everyone says go LT295 70 17's, i think that's a tad too big considering the driving I do for work. I was thinking of either a 265 or 275 70r17.

 

Why not 285's?...I think 265's would look too small with a 3" lift personally.

 

This is a 3" Readylift with 265/70 17 for your reference.

I think 275/70 17 is what I'm getting next.

 

Looks pretty good, but imo I think they look too small

 

Just a touch. Gonna bump up to 275/70 17 but not ready to spend the cash.

 

I got 265/75 16 and I wish I just went with the 285s. Might as well go all out

 

Yeah, just my opinion though what tires are you thinking?

 

I'm thinking Cooper ATP or AT/3 in 275/70 17 with either a -10 offset wheel or wheel spacers on the ones I have.

With a less aggressive tire like the ATP or the AT/3 the truck will need a wider stance.

 

Do you know if the 275 will rub

4.5” 0mm, they’re the same thing you can put it in search parameter filters. They measure different things

Backspacing is distance from the center of the rim that holds the lug nuts to the back of the wheel and the offset is how much the center of the wheel curves forward or backwards (why it’s in millimeters)

They’re not completely the same thing but most wheel manufacturers use 0mm offset

 

More correct answer is one is dependent on the wheel width the other is not. If you know the wheel width including lip you can convert from one to the other, as the poster said they are dependent but measured from different reference points. Offset can be positive or negative as it references wheel mounting surface from centerline, Back Spacing will always be positive as it measures the wheel mounting surface to the back of the rim including lip.

Maybe you guys can answer some questions to help me get there..
What wheel width would I be looking at if I wanted 275?

The offset like say -12 is more then like a +2? How does bsckspacing changed when they are usually 0?

If most manufactures use a 0 backspace then looking at the chart it shows the offset at half. That's what doesn't make sense to me. It is like only showing one option...

 

A wheel with a -12mm offset will stick out 14mm more than a wheel with a +2mm offset
