Mine is about the same, maybe slightly darker. I checked when the engine was warming up, so it was moist when I wiped it. My finger looked like it had black paint on it.

Moisture (water) is a byproduct of combustion, exhaust will ALWAYS have moisture in it at start up, worse when cold outside (steam from tail pipe ? ) and then becomes much less noticeable as things reach operating temp. in really cold climates there is always a small vapor trail from tail pipe. As the systems reach operating temp the water vapor stays vapor longer and you don't see it dissipate ( you also see this effect behind high altitude jets, exiting water vapor condensing into ice crystals at 35000ft and the melt and revaporize into the atmosphere )

I get this call regularly on forklifts new and old " its leaking fluid" and its water from the tail pipe dribbling out until it's reached operating temp.

If You've got a GAS OVEN in the house you've noticed the warm humidity when you open it up, same thing. ( professional Chef's prefer an electric oven over gas for this reason, the moisture of the combustion process can effect baked confections, pastries and breads )

WATER is truly the circle of life

No, haha, I understand that completely... That is what gave it the black paint appearance though. Instead of the dry residue appearance... That's why I pointed out the difference.

Actually it is entirely possible. I was reading an article about planes launching a type of metal flake into clouds that assist in water condensing into large enough droplets.

I don't. It was just a casual observation I made yesterday when I started my truck.

That is nothing for oil consumption. My 08 Chevy burned up more than a quart of oil every 2000 miles. This is on a 4 QT engine. Dealer said it was normal. I had to start changing my oil at 3k because the more miles on the change, the faster it burned. I will never buy GM ever again. I maintained that car meticulously and with good quality oil. Absolutely ridiculous. Grateful to be on team Yota!
