Was looking at at some more SUA. So it seems the "hammer" shackles just give a bit more travel? Noticed how the TC rear shocks hoops are 10" while others are getting 12"-14"

Basically you can get more articulation from different setups than others, but to be able to go fast and not have the rear buck over large bumps, it's going to take a dedicated SUA setup. The DMZ kit is hands down the most popular one and probably the best deal out there for what it is. He also offers a bolt / weld in bed cage that makes setup super easy.

I learn so much more from this forum than the 3rd gen.:annoyed: I like being the ignorant one on forums.

I just realized you have a 3rd gen - his kit should work for it since the frames are identical in a lot of ways to second gens. I'd give him a call this week and see what he says about cages for third gens.

Tc sua is for mid travel as it utilize the stock hangers. From the stock configuration the max a spring under leaf can articulate is 12 inches. Our trucks simply don’t come with hangers wide enough for long travel numbers that are 15-16 inches of travel. He went with dmz as that is a legit long travel leaf pack. I have the 3.5 tc kit up front as well with the tc sua. I am installing my dmz kit in a month or two as that kit will keep up with extended travel coilovers, but even if you are considering a +2 kit I would still get the dmz kit. That way if you want to have less travel then you can relocate your shocks with the archive or bamf kit if you don’t want to cut into your bed. I wish I had dmz my truck initially. There is a reason why tc calls it a mid travel kit and also why most of their builds on their site use the dmz rear end.

Thanks that is priceless. The "if I could do it again" is always the best advice IMHO. The whole reason for forums. Learn from others' experiences. Thanks!

Yea man no problem. At the time I got mine, no one had feedback on the tc sua. Sucks to be one of the guinea pigs, but if it helps anyone decide then it’s worth it. What are you going to throw up front?

Just doing all the research right now. Want to keep it mellow. Would be cool to see if its worth doing a mid travel TC with bypass would work? Or if just trying to fit that 3" King in front would be enough.

Are you in Louisiana? Do you mean a 3.5 front kit for the front? If you don’t ever plan to LT the front then the tc kit would be fine. It rides great on street and fire roads. Off road wise, you will find out quick it can’t keep up with long travel.

If you want to keep it mellow, run away from the long travel forum lol. You may end up keeping it mellow in a full caged linked whoop eater :burnrubber::bikewhoops::spending::bananadance:

Los Angeles. I meant the 3" King Shocks on stock length arms vs 2.5" shocks and adding a bypass.

The problem is I get motion sick if Im not driving. So I need something that can hang when I go down to Baja as a chase truck. Ask me how I know . . . hahaha

Just go full lt lol What team do you chase for? 2.5 should be fine - our trucks are pretty light for 3.0's

Ah...I only did the oem 2.5 kings but they were able to get me around 18-25 mph on trail tha guys typically did at 10 mph. When I went LT I could cruise around 30-35 on the same trails. Hard part where I am is the east coast has more right and technical trails so still have to navigate at speed. Hopefully that gives you some idea.

@jeff b might know more about bypass and oem capability than me.

Uh...if you are thinking legit chase truck then you would ideally want a 3.5 as that’s the basic package for chase. Many have 4.5 to 6.5 kits to just be the back up dude flying in the dez.

I get you. I came from Jeeps so Im used to building for tight trails and articulation. IFS and leafs are the opposite of my coil sprung solid axles.

Just my uncle's buddies. Basically just drive around and fuel up and drink tecate light. Then hours later ask weatherman where so and so is, then go find them broken down somewhere lol.

Man if I ever live out in Cali I’m gonna get a dedicated prerunner with stupid travel and just fly till I die man. No reason not to go big since you live where the hot shit is.
