What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I’ll have to check out those spots, they look pretty cool. I’m originally from Eugene so I know all about shotgun creek, it’s a fun place to explore.

 

Just finished up with disabling the annoying daytime running lights (DRL). Thanks to anybody and everybody who posted information about that across the forums!

Now I'm in control of my headlights.

 

What I almost had to do with my truck was have my buddy who owned a used car dealership buy the truck from the original owner, then sell it to me so then I'd have 90 day dealer tags while I waited on a title from California. If California never came through with the title, then he said there were other ways to get a title, whether it be a mechanic's lien, abandoned vehicle lien, or some other lesser known ways.

 

Do you have aaa?

 

I don't unfortunately - State Farm.

 

Damn if you had aaa roadside assistance then you could do all DMV services there and it's way faster. That's where I have used reg form 227. Pm me the vin and license plate number I'll call aaa tomorrow and inquire about registration and if ca still accepts 227

It's not a problem at all. The only thing I can find online is that 227 is no longer accepted when there is a lien on the car or truck

This is correct. I've just replaced mine too. Notghing wrong with a used part. Check on http://www.car-part.com that's how I found mine.

 

To anyone wanting to replace their leaf springs, forget the sockets and wrenches. Buy a saw-zall and start snipping. I tried wrenching, then got one with a cobalt blade and went to town.

 

Did a little weight reduction in the front today. Then had to go take it for a test drive of course. It handles so much better off road now and soaks up bumps way smoother. Even on the road it felt really good. Didn’t really notice a difference at freeway speeds.

 

A grinder and a cut off wheel works great also haha. I’ve done that to multiple u bolts

 

Yup, clip the u bolts, leaf spring front bolt and in my case the tailpipe hanger cause of my ome exhaust bracket

 

I used an angle grinder when I replaced my springs. There was no way those bolts were coming off with a wrench. Even if they did, I wasn't going to reuse them.

Sway bar delete?

 

Yessir I was tired of the rough ride it gave me. Only bad thing is I have a big 1200 pound camper so I’ll probably have to put it back on for camping season. @Speedytech7 Thanks! She pretty much does everything with me. She would 10/10 let you pet her haha

 

I was thinking about doing the sway bar delete, but I don’t know the pros and cons
