This morning my “taco” started with misfires scanner reading cylinder 6, planning to change sparkplugs any other ideas?
    Thanks

If not the plug, check the coil and wiring.

I’m thinking to swap 6cylinder coil to 1 cylinder and check scanner

I know the driver's side is a pain to swap plugs due to lack of room. Not sure if that's where cylinder 6 is, but I could see wiring getting pinched, or a plug not getting properly installed.

How is your coolant level? High or low?

Heat would stop working long before misfires.

Wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being the head gasket. They can burn enough coolant where you wont notice much of a difference in coolant level, or in heat output but it'll still throw the code. Swap the coil and plug and see what happens.

I think it my be a head gasket, as I went through same thing 2 years ago at about 170K, but started about 140K. Symptoms were misfire in cylinder 6 and coolant wouldnt return to radiator. I took it in twice before It actually started to overheat, as Toyota said pressure test was fine, but third time I said what I thought and they found it. Cost quotes at Toyota was 2700 to 3700! I had them do it and I have had zero issues and other wise truck is flawless, so for me it was worth it, as that was 2 years ago. I am original owner of it 2005 TRD off road and at about 205K. Good luck man.

I will admit I am a homer, as I have many and they have been very reliable overall. I feel for you and hope it works out.

Has it still held up? My truck has passed block test, cylinder compression test, and cooling system is holding pressure. Replaced water pump, thermostat, fan clutch, belt, pulleys, and the rad cap. Still overheated again cylinder 6 spark plug and coil were wet but didn’t smell like coolant

Not sure if I should have the head gasket changed because I’ve heard bad things about engines that have had the repair done

Yes, as I am sitting at about 233k now, with no issues ther, glad I did it.

The truck has been pretty reliable except for gaskets! I just had the timing belt cover gasket done, which I would recommend while they are in there if you are going to keep for awhile.

This truck has been very solid except for the two gaskets, but my ac compressor is starting to make noise. maybe after 15 years and 233k in Arizona it’s time?

I ended up just getting a new engine all together since Toyota wanted 4500 for just the gasket.. found a 2015 engine with 3k miles on it, getting ready for the swap soon
