I think they mix the clear coat into the paint on white.

This will be my first white vehicle ever. Did not have a big choice if I wanted a PRO. Well yes I know we always have a choice. I think I like the way it accents the black though.

It’s not a coat of clear. You can’t mix a coat of something into another coat. A coat is a coat - an application - of paint. It’s a single stage paint. No clear coat. If they add gloss enhancers that’s exactly what they are - gloss enhancers. This should not be a difficult concept to grasp.

No regrets with my 8-year old super white paint. I wish my black Mustang was white - black ages much more quickly. The only color I would consider other than white is maybe MGM or Quicksand if I planned an overland build with a bunch of black accents.

    ^+1 on this.

Don't know if Toyota has figured out white just yet. Seen a lot of oxidation on the Toyota trucks at work that are white

I am so glad you spelled it out this way! most people call it "mid-clear" which isn't a thing at all. Ford back in the day did this exact same on all their vehicles. the paint absolutely sucked! I had several.

the paint on the newer cars is so much better, whether they have clear or not. the single stage paint is nothing new, but it has been greatly improved over the years. does the white not having clear coat scare me? absolutely not because I know how to take care of it from many years of detailing before getting into tinting windows. but would I buy another white one? probably not. i love the white with the black accents on my truck honestly, but I would go with a different color next time.

the oxidation comes from inexperience with keeping single stage paint clean. it isn't the paint itself. if you know how to care for it, it will last a long time. if you get behind the 8 ball on it though, it absolutely sucks.

I'm guessing they don't wax or seal the trucks at work. Having said that I guess I better learn how to keep single stage paint clean.

step one, remove wax as your main care product. sealant is ok, so is polish. but after time wax will actually dry out the paint. it will also build up and start to turn the paint yellow. honestly, I can't even remember the last time I used any wax based product on any of my cars/trucks. I am a huge fan of ceramic coating, so my last 2 vehicles got those. this truck will get a ceramic coat as well once the weather allows. right now I use a ceramic coat revive product that acts as a coating itself, but it only lasts about 3 months without the actual ceramic coating. still better than a wax though. and its far less work. some people will tell you wax is the end all cure for paint, however, most professional detailers will tell you opposite.

Clearcoat is mixed in with the paint instead of layered on top. This means you need to seal the paint and wax. Also can't clay your truck. Otherwise, it's great and I love mine.

completely false! you can clay these trucks just as any other color. I have done mine 3 times already in 4 weeks of ownership trying to get all the rail dust off of mine.

One or both tend to neutralize rust, so I'm just thinking out loud.

Doubt it, being that they are company vehicles and they don't appreciate the truck like they just spent 40k on it. Very unfortunate

I've had black, red, silver and white trucks. I prefer white with a ceramic sealant which helps make it easier to maintain the paint. Both of my Tacomas are white.
