If I had the money to buy a built truck I would. Mines already built jist need to add the flatbed with shock hops

So after researching and reading a ton more long travel posts, i need opinions about leaf springs. What brand do you guys like the most? Deaver seems to be very popular. Anyone have links to where to buy good sets?

Still considering Chevy 63 since it’s inexpensive. But I’m wanting to pair whatever leafs I go with with a 14” shock. I like to speed more than rock crawl.

I’ve heard good and bad things about allpro springs. And also about their customer service haha

Customer service was only a issue for the last year which is not a issue now as trailgear owns them. Go to contact them and see who it is your contacting now it's not allpro

A professional welder (aerospace mig and tig) on here said he did his whole truck with 120 and a hobart 140. He also recommended the miller 140. Those are what I'm looking for on CL - get the settings right and it should be good. What videos are you watching btw?

Weldingtipsandtricks is pretty well respected by newbs and veterans alike.

120v welder can get the job done. Hobart 140 max weld 3/16" in 1 pass any bigger n multiple passes. 220v welder has more capabilities, better to have more then to not have enough. Plus running a small welder at full capacity may kick your breaker. I had a tiny fluxcore welder that was kicking my breaker every 10mins when I would weld constantly.
I recommend a multi voltage welder with 120v/220v option. My miller 211 is great for both. I use a 220v at home and 120v at friends houses that don't have 220v.

I had a 220v I put in my parent's just for the welder. But I recently moved out n bought my house n I don't have 220v anymore (for a couple more months or so) so I'm using 120v atm.

Congrats! That's awesome. Now you can put 220 in the bedroom just to 'heat things up'

    :rimshot:

That is awesome though - every king needs to have a castle to call home. I'm getting out of serfdom atm lol

I’ve used a Lincoln buzz box, Lincoln 140, Hobart 140, Miller bobcat 225 and now a miler 215 on my truck. All different in many ways. For our trucks the metal is thin. Heat is heat and if you could get enough of it to fuse the metal together you succeeded. Yes there are better machines out there but that’s all debatable which one is better. Get what ever your willing to pay for and practice.

Before laying weld on your truck start by building a work bench or grinder bench or something for the garage or back yard. As for shaking, I hold the tip of the gun with my left hand while resting on something solid right down by the weld. Right hand is trigger hand. Gives control over the weld.
