i thought you wanted a more aggressive looking tire?
    Isn't that what everyone wants?

Ya the guy at canadian tire was showing me them as an alternatve to the duratrac.
the tread pattern on them is very similar to the KO2 so will likely hydroplane just like the KO2 did.

    I'll stick to my duratracs.

    +1 for wild peaks .
I've heard a lot of good things about them. If I can find them for a good price I might give them a try next time.

I was going to go with that tire as I heard the same.

Only reason I went with ko2s is because they were the cheaper of the ones I looked at.

Yeah I've heard a lot of people like them.
I was looking into General because I might be able to get 50% off

50%!?!? What are you waiting for....

At the end of the day a lot of the allterrain tires are pretty aggressive. I will not run a mud tire as I don’t switch tires in the winter. Mud tires in the winter are scary. Off-road they are great but the performance I got from my cooper all terrains was enough for me and what I do.

Haha. Trying to get all this lift stuff sorted and figure what sizes I'm going with.
Ya definitely going all terrains. I was going to go with coopers or the duratracs until this offer came up.

Anyone ever run a wider tire in the rear? I've been looking and I found some Cooper st maxx in a 33 12.5 17 that would work on the trailer and the rear of the truck but not the front. Checked tire calculator and they are the same size as mine just wider.

not a good idea because when you engage 4x4 it may mess with the t case since the wheels will have different rolling resistances due to the width.

if your lifted or not afraid to cut go with 285's (ask @Joe23 the fun he is having with 285's on a 3inch lift). If not 265's work and shouldn't cause any issues. Could always go full crazy and go 315's.....

As soon as you go wider than 265 you run into problems

This is exactly what scared me into 255's. They are such an upgrade from what I had, glad I listened to you gents :hattip:

What are you running in the front? ST Maxx in 255/80-17? They are not exactly the same dia. but close: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Cooper&tireModel=Discoverer+S/T+Maxx

255/80-17 is 32.8" dia., 632 revs per mile.
285/70-17 is 33.0" dia., 628 revs per mile.

The difference would be akin to having 3/32" mismatched tread depths, assuming both are new tires. If your front tires have some wear and the 285s are new, the difference would be larger. You might be able to mitigate this difference by running lower tire pressure in the rear.

From my experience it's the dumbest thing to do, it's a miracle that I am still alive after 5000km on those tires... :anonymous:

It would also suck because then you need two different sized spares. Better off keeping it all the same
