Dear autocorrect programmers: I have never in my adult life used ‘ducking’ conversationally.

I use ‘f***ing’ as a noun, verb, adjective and adverb.
I sprinkle it like salt and pepper. It’s my favorite seasoning.

    Fix your ducking algorithm.

Facebook marketplace, great for getting rid of free shit, not great because you slept through all of Spanish 1, 2, 3 and now have no idea what 3/4 of the people messaging you are saying...

    Official Announcement!

I'm not going to be doing much side work through the summer. I have too much housework and my projects to take care of to take time away from that stuff. I'll still build differentials and possibly install. If you come up with some compelling trade where you do yard work or build a shed and I'll work on your vehicle, might happen.

Well, drive that big ass loader down to my house and scrape away all the crap dirt I have. Given the size of that thing, I'm guessing 2 scoops might do it

yea, I slept on it and gave it another try this AM. It was so frozen I used a punch and hammer to get it to pop. Decided to replace it after I mangled it good. Can't believe the torque spec on that aluminum plug is 48 ft-lb. Seems way too much considering the other three, and that it is a 10mm hex head. They should make those a 24mm bolt head. Front plug had very small amount of fines and the fluid was very clean.

    Thanks again. Be safe.

I don't even get close to that number when I install them. 20lbs is enough. It is more about the stiction because of the surface area of that plug. I need to build a video of how I remove those.

Basically, hit the face of the plug with a hammer as flat as possible 2 or 3 times. 12oz ball peen is what I use. Then loosen the plug. Sometimes it is almost finger tight after that.

Guess it's time for my semi-annual auto insurance rant. A few years back I was still with Allstate, who I'd had since I started driving. They jacked my rates over $100 every six months (from like $425ish to $550ish) as a 'general rate increase' due to a bunch of hail storms in the area at the time. I called around, went to Geico who was half what Allstate wanted. Well, Geico gave me a renewal at the beginning of the month that did the same thing - from $265 to $365, 'general rate increase'.

Now, I have to say I feel like my insurance is relatively cheap, so even with the extra $100 it still seems relatively decent (I guess? I mean now I'll pay about the same for my decent auto insurance in six months as I do for my shitty health insurance in one? :notsure:). But still, something like that means call and get quotes. I started with Allstate again, and while they somehow are lower now ($407), still not quite close enough to warrant a switch (I should mention I'd had not at fault incidents with Allstate, and they were very good about things, and have yet to use Geico). Last time I went through this I'd also tried Progressive and State Farm, and neither could compete (actually State Farm never even got back to me, but they sure put me on every one of their agents in the area mailing list). This time I figured I'd call Farmers (those ads are cute, some people said good things on here, I think). And they want $790 every six months. Even their 'cheaper alternative brand name' was like $600.

So I guess I'm going to stay with Geico for now. Seems like every time I start to make progress on something, life gets more expensive and sets me back two steps. :annoyed: Anyone else (Geico or otherwise) see a significant jump in rates lately? Have some favorite insurer/agent I should talk to?

Had Geico, my policy was to renew in a couple weeks and the increase was a tick over $100, but since we bought the house, we combined our policies (Myself, my wife, and homeowners) and went with Progressive, both cars went down, and the policy has better rates.

My former roomates had the same experience. I think not owning a home (despite having renter's and the discount that gives for multiple policy) really hurts your rates with some companies as compared to others. Multiple cars can do that to, but of course the increase for the second vehicle is never completely offset by the discount or lower base rate.

You guys know of a cheap place to get tires mounted? Seems like everywhere wants to charge an arm and a leg if you don't buy the tires there.
