How much uptravel should I be looking for with my setup?

As much as possible. I would guess most people with 12-14" shocks under the bed are getting 5-7" of up travel. I am running 14" shocks right now with a SOA setup and it isn't bad but it isn't going to keep up a 3.5" long travel kit up front. I have about 5.5" up travel and 8" down. Mine paired well with my mid travel front setup. Also, one thing to think about is that unless you have the perfect amount of weight in the bed, a full 14" or more of travel is hard to get with stock geometry. I couldn't get more than 12" out of my all pro leafs before I added the archive garage hangers. Even after that I still had to modify the leaf spring retaining clips to allow the springs to droop a little more.

My main problem is the amount of weight I have in the bed which tends to flatten most springs, but even then don't assume just cause you have a 14" shock you will get 14"+ of travel unless the leaf spring is right.

Either those all pro leaves are crazy good at holding weight or you are letting those leaves go super negative....or I'm missing something. Either way that's interesting, there aren't a whole lot of us that have SOA, modified rear ends, and have actually broken down and cycled everything to understand what's going on. The deavers I've got aren't holding weight for shit, and I've been adding/swapping dakar leaves that I've had sitting around trying to get the ride height up to somewhere that's somewhat useful.

A combination of both. I got a set of the all pro expo 2.0s which were supposed to hold weight better than the standard expos and they sagged from the moment I put them on. After arguing back and forth with All Pro for 2 months I gave up and tore them apart. I removed the "torque spring" which is supposed to prevent axle wrap, and added in a leaf to the middle of the pack instead. This kept them more arched. But because they are crap anyway and I am not concerned about how long they last, I let them go a little negative to maximize up travel. My dakars consistently went negative and it never hurt longevity or performance. ARB has even said they are meant to do so (whole other debate).

At this point, when I have the funds the truck is going on a diet and I am going SUA (with a floating removable airbag) or links in the rear. I will have my tear drop trailer finished by summer so there is no longer any need to load the truck down with a ton of weight. Just hook up to the trailer pull it to the desert, drop the trailer (and gear) and go play.

The sua kit does, but if you go with the tc shock hoops they will only be able to cycle 10.5 inches max.

I wouldn’t go with the bamf kit if you’re going sua. You’ll need to hang the shocks too low. Those mounts are designed for soa and a 12” shock. The archive setup would be better if you’re sua. You can run it with 12’s and keep good ground clearance. It will also allow you to run bypasses if you choose to down the road

Met up with some familiar faces in Pismo over the weekend. They found a decent jump and had some fun.

My front bumper is almost done! I should be getting my truck back tomorrow. I know its not as angled as most would like, but it keeps the factory front crossmember. Also, I don't purposely hit things that will hit the bumper, and I would rather have a bumper to stop me than to push me over if I lose control

I don't think anyone builds a bumper with the intention of making you roll over

if you do this that bumper not going to help you, it might make you flip because there no angle.

I doubt it’ll make the truck flip. It’ll just bend the frame up at the crumple zone or roadhouse the bumper mounts on the frame since it doesn’t look like it bolts to the frame anywhere else.

ya but, hole point of the angle on the bumper is to help push the truck back up into the air and help slide on top of the sand i just do see that happening with that skid plate that all.

Ease into the jumps and adjust suspension as NOT to lawn dart instead of making a landing gear front bumper and stand on the gas.

    I

That’s just silly. The angle on the bumper is for improved approach angle and ground clearance. Bumpers aren’t built to aid the suspension in doing it’s job
