Just rip out the TBI/spider injection, and put in a 4-barrel Edelbrock!

This truck is NOT a 454SS, but the owner (1-owner truck; original owner) special ordered it back in 1993 to look just like a 454SS. It has the same chassis/suspension as a 454SS, but it has a 350 and 3.73 posi rear (454SS had 4.10s). It even had the same wheels as the 454SS originally!

Same truck photographed at two different shows, about a month apart...

Yes it’s a hard top. Bought a rag top clip for it years ago thinking I would have it grafted in but I’m undecided on it.

That’s a coin toss. Ragtops are so cool, but the money is in original ones. A nicely done hardtop looks pretty sweet IMHO

Pulled her out a few years ago when I needed room to change the oil tank for the house.

I'm not hot on Bugs much although I did like my Dad's '65 when I was a kid. I remember that thing with a set of studded snow tires was a badass in the snowy weather and that heater in there worked damn good for as cold as it was in Illinois winters. But I have to ask-can you elaborate upon that motor? You really built up that Bug nice!

Thanks, it did turn out nice. I bought 4 yrs ago as a shell and a bunch of boxes full of parts. The motor started out as a period correct 1192cc or what’s known as a 36hp. In the late ‘50s you could buy a soup up kit from the dealer that gave you dual port heads, dual carbs (sourced from earlier Porsches), stroker crank, hotter cam and an Abarth 4 tip exhaust. It also has a period correct bypass oil filter again like the Porsches of that time. All that said this motor is probably only pushing 45hp and maybe 60ft/lbs trq. So 0-60 times are down to 21 seconds. Hold on tight
